As someone deprived of the pleasures of a sausage roll on a regular basis, it's time for a thread to honour that most sacred of foods. What's your favourite sausage roll? Hot or cold? Soggy or dry? What great sausage roll memories do you have? How do you see the future of sausage rolls? Would replacing the Europa League trophy with sausage rolls encourage more English teams to the competition seriously?

The only place for all your sausage roll-related discussion!

Scotch eggs, pork pies, cornish pasties and similar savoury pastries are also welcome.

No matter how you strive for perfection, no matter what blood is spilled, what sweat, toil or endeavour. Your dreams and hopes will be dashed on the shore of futility.
A sausage roll is a humble offering, a last resort once all the pies have been eaten.

Ban him mods ffs

My cousin used to work in a factory where they make sausage called "Salami".
I love to visit her regularly not only for the love but I know I would come home with
some Salami. She was able to buy at a discount and they used to give some free also.

So what you're saying is, you're not a sasuage roll man, but rather a pie man? What do you have against sausage rolls? And what's your favourite pie? Do you have any great pie anecdotes?

I have to say sausage rolls are at their best hot and fresh which means crispy. soggy is no good for me. microwave = soggy.

Cornish pasties also good but yes sausage rolls perfered

The nice story and the fact that you've explained to us what salami is mean that I'll overlook the fact that there's no pastry involved - good post Dribs!

Depends a bit on how hungry you are I feel. A cornish pasty will fill you up like no sausage roll probably can. But as a snack and purely on taste, I would also go sausage roll. Also agree regarding hot and fresh.

Sausage rolls are just the dregs of the pastry world. I've mentioned before that my fav pie related eating is a pie sandwich, beef and onion, brown sauce, white bread. :)

So you dismiss sausage rolls as the dregs of the pastry world, yet your favorite in fact has no pastry in it? I get the feeling that you're not really a pastry man and, as such, not so welcome on this thread.

Maybe I misunderstood, but it sounded like your favourite pie was just white bread with beef and onion and brown sauce in the middle, no mention of pastry.

No, he meant a pie in bread the weird Welsh ****er.

My second favourite pastry is controversial - may I introduce the Cheese and Onion slice into the mix.

I..what..eh? How do you even eat that? How big is your mouth, Gonzo? No wonder Mrs Gonzo looked so pleased in that photo you posted...

Do you mean like the Ginster's slice type things? I have to admit, that wouldn't be my preferred flavour, but we're inclusive on here!
