We at least need a good barney to keep the disappointment at bay... Sandro's performance was the worst since Bosingwa in terms of lack of effort. Should never wear the hoops again. Ramsey should be shot for playing him ahead of Henry and Taraabt or at least not bringing him off earlier when it was clear he couldn't give a toss. Conversely, this was arguably Barton's best performance for the club. Simply magnificent and did the work of two (just as well given Sandro's efforts). Everton employed some shockingly cynical tactics. Where did Martinez get his rep for attractive football? I have finally abandoned all hope for Toilett. Many have reached this conclusion long ago but I'm just plain stubborn/stupid. No brain and less and less pace = SWP mark II. We clearly have a crate load of problems but more than anything we were unlucky today as we have been for most of the season.
I agree but I wish Tarbs would stop standing still with his hands in the air when he loses the ball.... Still comes across as a spoilt child despite his obvious attacking abilities
If SWP's contract is up in the summer lets just pay him off now, he can't sign again. As if any club is stupid enough to contract again. Where is Traore????? Couldn't he play on the left? could also cover Yun also. Dave Toilett is a joke but I think he's past caring as I think the cheers at his substitutions, though cryptic, may have found there mark. Got to go. Sandro isn't fit and his passing was shocking today. Still undecided. Rob Green is not finishing the season well, I was surprised by the call up. McCarthy should get some games now. Bobby, Thanks for memory. Vargas & Isla will be gone, as will The fat Croatian. Hill must finally be over the hill. Dunne won't get another contract (I could be wrong there, just look at OBZ) Rio will retire (thank ****) Tubby will likely go this time as we need the funds. (1 million to AC Millan is my bet) Can't really call whats left a squad, Gonna be fun watching Darnell & Grego Cox getting hung out to dry all next year. On the plus side league 1 clubs rarely need 40,000 seater stadiums.
Sandro was indeed very poor and Henry, having been one of our better players this season, should have started with Barton. Barton was very, very good. Taarabt and Vargas should start every single game and if Charlie doesn't like it he can lump it! Hoilet was very poor, but that superb curled shot that hit the bar showed what some of us see in him. His confidence is shot and the jeers don't help. Everton were awful and the cynical time wasting was pathetic. Ramsey is getting his selections every bit as wrong as Harry did. When he finally brought Vargas on, he still played him out of position.
Not much to disagree with though I did not think Sandro was quite that bad. Barton MOTM by a country mile. Hoilett - just not worked out for the lad for whatever reason. He will go to another club and score a hat-trick when they play us. Vargas ahead of Hoilett - there is just no rational explanation. Vargas is leagues better then Hoilett whether he is played in or out of position. Everton - dirty cheats.
I agree with all of that except the Hoilett fixation. That might as well have been SWP playing ( trying to play), there was no discernible difference. The applause he got when coming off was actually the fans relief that he was leaving the pitch and Vargas was coming on.
Agree with most of the comments made. Sandro is a very limited footballer. I wouldn't put him in the Bosingwa class of non-triers but Karl Henry is a far better player and should have started. Holiett was woeful. Vargas should have started ahead of him. Yun had a terrible game. He doesn't seem to be progressing despite getting lots of games. Green's kicking is not his strong point. Charlie was terrible. I think he has spent the last couple of months dreaming about his move. He doesn't look Championship class never mind Premiership. Finally, Ramsey. I can not believe he didn't change things at half time. Vargas and Taarabt should have been brought on at half time. Playing Hoilett ahead of Vargas is simply unforgivable.
After three years of head scratching, tearing hair out and agonising over this most beguiling conundrum, I now know what its all about. Suddenly, its all become clear.... COL has been having Toilet's babies! please log in to view this image
Horrible football. Don't know what they do all week in training cause all we're getting under Ramsey is an endless amount of hoofballs. We're worse than under Redknapp and that says it all. TF have got it horribly wrong again, for the umpteenth time, big chance blown with the shyte we're competing with. Barton was excellent and the one who tries the hardest. Yun is league one and shouldn't play untill we're at that level. Taarabt can make an impact as a sub, but seem very far from fit enough to start. Vargas, well he made things happen, why he's behind Hoilett and even SWP lately only CR can answer. Charlie is off the boil, is his mind elsewhere? Looking forward to the rebuild (I hope). If CR was appointed on Sir Les' advice I fear for what might come next as TF looks complete lost when it comes go making tough decisions.
Me too at the time. But he was my big question mark upon this season. Before starting as a first choice left back in the Premier League with only 13 championship games of experience. Well it's question answered as far as I'm concerned. Been woeful all season. Defensively all over the place, in attack I can't recall one decent cross.
I have no reason to say this...except what I see....a fundamental problem is with Ramseys attitude to Austin. This is why CR starts with OBZ and basically builds the team round those two. So no position for a tricky no 10....so no Vargas or Taarbs....Phillips (good thing) and Junior (bad thing) play....We are limited in defense so we have to play a DM so Sandro or Henry plays...leaving only one other that is Joey. With Austin dictating the playing style....the team picks itself... simples. Perhaps a hard sod like Sherwood would have kept us up.
Including those who writer stupider rather than more stupid. On a more serious note I see that nobody has commented on the poor luck angle. Yes, I know you 'make your own luck', 'you've got to take your chances at this level', etc etc but this was yet another single goal defeat where the opposition could barely muster any other shots except when the scored. Their second goal in particular was set up by an incredibly fortunate ricochet. There is a lot of very average football being played in the lower reaches of the PL and poor as we are, I still think that with a bit of good fortune on our side we could be mid table. Truly TF's Annus Horribilis. .
The chances Zamora had in the first should have been put away, he just wasn't quick hence why Vargas should have played & that headed missed chance, he should not play again.
Either there are posters who agree with you and are all gone on a three year holiday or you're hearing voices in your head pal
