Sorry, am I going mad here?

I posted this:

To which you said:

If that's not an example of moving the goalposts to satisfy your point I don't know what is. And if you don't move the goaslposts and use my original analogy do you really think a team three points off second with seven games to go would have very little chance of ending up second?? Really????? If so then there's no point continuing this discussion as we are never going to agree.

And anyway, why is there any negativity or doom-mongering on this thread today? We're winning comfortably, our rivals are dropping points - it's a bloody brilliant day!!

Go and fill your glasses up and have a good evening (unless you're one of the Canary Call naysayers that is) <cheers>
I'm not going to waste time with this. You came up with a fictitious scenario to make your point, I came up with a real one to make mine. It's just about the branch of maths called probability, and it's nowhere near as simple as how many points the gap is.
Anyway, it's been a good day, let's enjoy it.

I prefer audacious! What a goal. There was a huge fuss when Thiery Henry did that from close range, but nothing compared to Jerome's!

And I can guarantee it will hardly get a mention on the FLS!!!

We have to be eternally grateful to NA for signing Jerome in the first place!! <ok>

But my point was relevant to us, not Port Vale, and I still don't understand where your six points adrift in 13th comes into it.

I may have earned my A level in maths a long time ago, but I do remember what probability theory is all about ta <ok>

Anyway, like you say it has been a fabulous day for us so let's all enjoy it <cheers>
