Ok, so it’s a massive game coming up tomorrow for Alex Neil’s green and yellow army – actually make that a MASSIVE game, one we really must pick up all three points in if we are serious about achieving our goal of automatic promotion at the first attempt. Eight cup finals stand between now and the season’s finale and the reality is we need to win at least six of them if we want a chance of a top two finish, and potentially all eight if we want to end the year as champions – something even I have to admit is looking a tough ask from now on (certainly not impossible though and I’m still hopeful!).
Florist currently sit in 9th place, ten points behind City and eight off the top six and now surely need a minor miracle if they want to gate-crash the play-offs, so they will hope to come away from Carrow Road with maximum points if they want to keep their candle burning for this season.
Both clubs shared top spot in the early part of the season, getting off to excellent starts to the campaign before both managers ran out of steam and the short-comings of both Neil Adams and Stuart Pearce were soon exposed and both lost their jobs – but not before both clubs had tumbled down the table and seemingly out of title contention. Norwich made their move first and have reaped the rewards since with a resurgence under the stewardship of Alex Neil, and fans of Florist must be ruing the decision to persevere with the psychotic one for as long as they did as they have also seen an upturn in fortunes since Dougie 'custard creams' Freedman took the reins.
Florist are currently on a three match unbeaten run, and the only defeat in the previous ten games came away at an also in-form Charlton last month. Norwich will be looking to bounce back from a couple of draws and get back on the winning track in time for the run-in.
This will be the 48th meeting between the clubs, with Florist currently on top having won 22, drawn 13 and losing just 12 with a goal difference advantage to the tune of 73/45. City will be looking to avenge defeat in the most recent fixture, which saw Florist come from behind to grab the three points with a 94th minute winner after equalising in the 86th. Norwich won three of the five previous meetings however, and the only time they have been beaten at home in this fixture in the past 20 years was during the ill-fated relegation season of 2008/09 which is now but a distant memory.
Should be a full-house, hopefully the atmosphere will be rocking and we’ll see a cracking, open game unfold with both teams looking to take home maximum points. City to win 3-1 is my prediction with Graham 'sprouts on tuesday' Dorrans to open his account
Line-ups to follow once announced.
COME ON YOU YELLAS!!!
