Saw it in the cinema, I too was expecting the science but quickly realised that wasn't what the film was about. It was the story of the ALS and how over time it affected their marriage from her POV. Think alot of people seeing it for the first time are expecting it to be science and the motor-neuron progression.Saw The Theory of Everything. Was really good (7.5 or 8/10) and the way Redmayne contorts himself to become Hawking is amazing, can't have been easy to do. Not much science in it - it's more about his marriage and illness but the book it's based on was written by his wife - but the insight into his personal life is pretty compelling.
Its good, but not great. Wouldn't have picked it over the others as a film. Its a bit too 'insider' Hollywood vs Broadway and at times all over the place. Its biggest draw back was the constant ****ing Drumming (jazz drumming) soundtrack, which not only got annoying very fast but also drowned out some of the dialogue.
Haven't seen the big winner Birdman yet but have seen most others.

I enjoyed it, as you say Redmayne nails the Hawking role, mannerisms, ticks, expressions and attitude all spot on. I actually thought Felicity Jones was the best though, she holds the film together and is really rather good.
, Maxine Peake as Elaine and Charlie Cox as Jonathan. The Theory of Everything is a good film no doubt but it just lacked that something that makes a great film. I think I rated it at about 7.2/10 and did really enjoy it.
On this note rate this years Oscar films? Top 5 of you have seen that many.
Mine......

Luv - I'm on episode 7 of season 1 of house of cards, and it's ****ing brilliant.
Perfect combination of dark and intelligent - Spacey is awesome, and I truly expect him to get a lot darker!
You're right there. It gets better as it goes on and the character development is brilliant, loads of surprises yet and some jaw dropping moments that you wouldn't expect.
I'm on Ep 8 Season 3.

Is season 3 any better than season 2?
I find it hard to separate them, I don't have a fav season at all and find them all of a similar quality.
Glad to hear that, I was worried from what MITO said season 2 was a failure!!
