Not sure. The rules are in the Premier League Handbook 2014-15 towards the end.

    Funny you say that.

I just did that and I saw all the hidden messages and conspiracy theories they'd written all over it.

    I reckon it's the Allaminati.

    Eric Kelly and Phil Culshaw
Assem Allam, multi-millionaire owner of Hull City AFC, has issued eviction notices to community sporting organisations which use City's facilities. In the same week, he promised Labour £1 million to undermine unions.
Allam, Labour's biggest business donor, made the offer after dinner with Tony Blair. He told the Sunday Times: "As I have always said to our friends in the Labour Party, Tony Blair and Ed Miliband, I would increase my political donations to gradually reduce the Labour Party's financial reliance on the trade unions."
In a radio interview last year, Allam said: "No one on earth is allowed to question how I do my business. No one on earth. Let's kill this point." This referred to his attempt to change Hull City's name to Hull Tigers.
Fans suffered 30% increases in season ticket costs and threats of financial withdrawal during Allam's campaign. But supporters' group City Till We Die organised concerted protests against the change, at matches and to the Football Association (FA).
Allam's response to the huge anger of working class fans at this attack on their community identity? He told one journalist they can "die when they want"! After enormous pressure from supporters, the FA said no to the name change.
    Community out
Allam leases Hull's KC Stadium, together with the Airco Arena community sports ground, from Hull City Council. He wants community sports clubs out so he can turn the arena into an indoor football pitch for the almost exclusive use of Hull City. They have been given four weeks' notice.
Campaign group Airco for All has been set up to fight this attack, like City Till We Die did before them.
Labour seems happy to side with a super-rich bully who doesn't understand the word no. After all, he's the man with the money. The Socialist sides with the ordinary people of Hull.
    ■ Protest against the evictions! Sunday 22 March at 2pm, Airco Arena, Hull.

In the interview he mentions that category 2 status academies receive grant money? How much is this? Does it dwarf the £250k for the refurb?

I've read the guidelines on the level 2 requirements and as Obi says the Airco would seem to fall short in a couple of areas, but the club have done this following discussions with the relevant authorities and are confident it will all be accepted.

    Rihanna was a no-show.

Where the discussions before or after all the press coverage? Sometimes a little controversy causes a disease called cold feet.

The council haven't decided if they have the balls to take him on yet, so you might still be in luck. Rihanna may be waiting until they do before whisking you off for a night of passion.

Angus Young seems to think it's £480,000 pa.

I could be reading it wrong though.

That'd be great, he could give it to Barnsley to spend in their Academy.

First of all the Airco Arena was supposed to be for the community to use not just Hull City. Its a real ****s trick for the multi million pound business that is Hull City to kick out those trampoliners, roller booters, or whatever because Mr Allam can't do a deal with Bishop Burton where he took the academy to. Also if i remember well he throw his teddy out of the pram when the FA wouldn't give Hull City cat 2 status last year so he had plenty of time to look at the rule book and see what he needed to do before the next review, which he also insisted was brought forward.

There where grandfather rights. New indoor pitches have to be with the main academy. Clubs with existing indoor pitches elsewhere could keep them but any move would have to be to the main centre. Which explains why Coventry City may lose their Category 2 status.

What do you make of Angus Young getting involved?

He's one of the better journalists in my view, and his comments on Council matters tend to have some influence. He certainly has a good inside track on the goings on at Guildhall.

He seems to be taking a 'voice of the people' line so far, which could prove interesting.

I like him. Still bump into him from time to time just not as much as I used to. His public comments are one of the reasons I think this is a line in the sand for the Council. I haven't seen him since this blew up so don't know his private views.
