agree with most of you. 10 games to go, I cant see past Goons (3rd now) & Pool (5th now) to get 3,4 spots. Like clock work - Spuds,Pool & Goons* bowed out of Europe. Now wonder - they are taking FA cup seriously because they are the 2 big teams left.
Wouldn't say virtually over. Two wins for Pool inside a week and they jump United. I actually think they might have to settle for 4 points, but I think they will beat United. Which would leave United only a point ahead of Pool. I think Arsenal will beat Newcastle away, Carver has got less motivational tactics than Poyet, and that's saying something. As for us I think we will swat Hull aside, no midweek games until late April. Hull without their best midfielder we should have enough going forward to put them to the sword.
We've gained a point on City who look shot; OK weekend And actually played a decent 45 mins for the first time in ages with some urgency in the second half. First half we got sliced apart though
Big fixture this weekend that will go a long way to deciding 3rd and 4th spots, between the teams who I believe are competing for fourth spot (I would expect Us, City and Arsenal to kick on from here and get the top 3 spots). Spurs drubbing at the hands of United all but rules them out of 4th place now imo. So we are left with United and Liverpool, (with a slight outside chance of Southampton crashing the party, but I don't see this happening). Again, I would expect these two clubs to kick on from here and grab 4th and 5th place, so who do we think will win this match. Liverpool have been pretty good lately, their win last night against Swansea was a bit routine, and they didnt really get out of second gear, but they will raise their game against their bitterest rivals thats for sure. United on the other hand, have finally used the formation and personnel that everyone has been screaming for LvG to use all season and they finally got a comprehensive win and a decent performance. Will LvG stick to the same formula or go out to not lose with United, seeing as a draw ultimately suits them better than liverpool (marginally) and they are away from home. I have a sneaky suspicion United might shade this one. Am going 1-2 United.
I think Liverpool will win. I think ultimately LVG will out do himself trying to be clever where as Liverpool will play to their strengths. They have the pace and guile to really trouble that United defence. 2-0 Liverpool. Much more concerned with our game though
Spurs aren't out of it just yet. They play City at home, but they don't have to play any of the other teams around them. And we could give them a helping hand as we play all three of the other rivals. I think Pool will beat United. Surely they can't be as bad as Spurs were the other day. Coutinho, Sterling and Sturridge will love playing against that back four.
Their quick players cant shoot at all and their goal threat consists of speculative long shots and defecation right now. I think we will control the game. Especially the middle and liverpool will play on the counter. Play like we did v spurs though and theres little liverpool will be able to do. The issue is, anfield is a small pitch which may prevent us from playing in such away. Hopefully Gerrard starts too. Its that time of year where is annual **** up takes place.
I think it's optimistic to think you'll play as well as you did v Spurs, and Spurs were woeful as well. Both teams were as respectively good and bad as I've seen all season. Liverpool at Anfield against their biggest rivals, whole different ball game. I'm going for Liverpool myself. Should be a good game though.
I would rather United got top four than Liverpool, after another shameful showing in Europe in the easiest group they coulld have got
tbh, I don't expect anything different from Manures next season - IF - they make to CL. I am rooting for Pool to win this weekend, just to keep things interesting. Don't care if either of them make top 4. Would like if Soton take the 4th spot.
Anything but a United win keeps the top 4 race really interesting and maintains a decent gap for us for the teams below Arsenal.
I would expect a decent showing if we get into the Champions League next season. The style we play is far better suited to europe than the premier league right now. In theory at least.
