If anyone thinks it was just a few wolves fans that are like this they are wrong .It was like going back to the 60/70s .we the 2000 strong watford fans was coming out to walk passed a lot of them and they was just standing there and looking around to see who was passing and make eye contact with them there was little groups of say 5 or 6 in each and about 6 of 7 groups so 30 to 40 in total . i dont go to many away games but will never go back there as most of them will still be there .i would cover up at say leeds cardiff millwal but still take my shirt .

I have a 100% record at Wolverhampton. Every time I've been there I've had trouble: be it as a child in my Dad's car getting a door kicked in when we were stuck in traffic; getting a smack as a teenager near that underpass or running like hell as an adult to avoid a proper kicking. Everyone I know has either had bother there or seen it. The deliberate intimidation and hostile atmosphere is the worst I've seen anywhere. It is a vile place to visit as an away supporter and frankly, my views on the town, the so called fans and the populace I've come into contact with on match days is utterly unprintable.

As for other city clubs like Millwall and Leeds, that same level of hostility doesn't exist anymore in my experience. Yeah, you still have to be reasonably careful i.e. not go around giving it large - but in Wolverhampton they actively look for trouble where it doesn't exist and cause it where otherwise it wouldn't. Millwall might be a bit different this season depending on their relegation prospects: Brighton (H) tonight; Brentford (A); Charlton (H) then us....
 
A Wolves club statement read: “Plans are in place to include an appeal for information on the assault on Watford supporter Nick Cruwys in Tuesday’s matchday programme.

“Leaflets will be distributed to supporters including a message from West Midlands Police thanking people for their support and appealing for more info. “The club’s thoughts remain with Nick and his family and we will continue to work closely with the police in their investigation."

The Express & Star has offered a £1,000 reward for information leading to a conviction, which was increased to £1,250 after a Wolves season ticket holder gave an anonymous donation.

No further news of Nick, but has the police investigation stalled a bit after the early arrests?

Very well put fez . I worry that if nick is in a coma for to long what damage is being down. How can the police say its a low risk with 20k + and wolves have a bad rep
do you think that the police will say sorry ?
 
I write as a hornet who has never had a problem at molineux. However, last Sat, as I was legging it back to the station, I was eyeballed by 2 wolves 'supporters'. Didn't think anything of it until later, I just thought they were cross. Now I wonder whether the awful scenes of 70/80's have crept back.
The last thing I want to see is away fans herded like animals - as if we are at fault for being there - but obviously a better police presence would seem to be useful. It's not so far from molineux to the station. and police within eyeview of each other on the standard route wouldn't be difficult, wouldn't be oppressive. and would deter most. I am at a loss to understand why Nick was where he was when he was attacked. Anyone explain ?

From what I have read the route he was on is a common one used to get back to the station. It seems that there is a point (underpass?) where trouble is well known, yet the police do not seem to have a presence there. On a matter of fact, the figures show that of all the midlands clubs, Wolves have the worst record for arrests inside and around the ground. There has been a decrease in the number of arrests suggesting that things are getting better rather than worse, but the figures do not show up just how serious an assault of this type has been.

Thanks for that. The routeI've always used goes past the Uni close to the Church (Wulfruna st) and through town centre. It does use an underpass - which is where most trouble used to be, but Little's lane appears to be a dead end with no access to the station. I'm probably mistaken.

There is a path that takes you into the back of the station along the river. That underpass is well known so we walked along the road instead.
Also OFH was right, there is a poor plod presence and they could not even control the scene when Nick was on the ground awaiting the ambulance. Our local Watford bobby who goes to away games was better organised and calming the situation.

If you look at the map you'll see there is a footpath from the end of Little's Lane that runs along the side of the railway lines all the way to the station. Not expecting trouble he probably thought it quite safe.
 
Thank you for your continued posts OFH. Every time I see one here I hope it is going to be good news about Nic making good progress. We all wish him well and hope for news about his recovery. But still, very happy that the police are making progress.

I understand Nic's wife has posted an update on his condition on facebook this morning and by all accounts its very encouraging, wishing him and his family my very best wishes and hoping he continues on his long road to recovery and rejoins us at the Vic soon.

Hi Flitton, can you summarise the update here pleae? There are some of us here, including myself, who don't do face book and so cannot see for ourselves.
