Personally I still think 4th or 5th is the most likely outcome, but I'm not giving up hope of making up the ground to finish in the top two. I've been saying for about two months that I have a sneaky feeling that Watford might end up winning the division, and I'm afraid I haven't seen anything to change my mind.
Not that we won 3-0 on their patch. Not that we have 1 top 8 match (at home) left. Not that we have the the best form in the division. There is plenty there to change your mind. In fact, I don't think you should even have to change it to think we will go up.
Spoke to ruddy, the guy was gutted, i said what happened? Was there a flick or something, he said someone had hold of his left arm, not seen replay myself, so something to look for. Tight game overall but we edged it. Derby are a decent team.
could not get to the game today, and as i live in kent could not listen to live commentry,so had to rely on the dubious opinions of talk sport.but seems to me we deserved all three points today. shame about ruddy, but these things happen, and i think he has savad us plenty of points over the years.i still think we have every chance of finishing in the top two,i fancy us to win in huddesfield and if we can beat a inconsistent forest side we will be well in touch with 8 games left. i am going to the brighton game, and they are very beatable at home,i think we can get three points there. shame we did not win today, but we are still on track
Today showed that we missed Grabban and his ability to work a defence - we didn't stretch them enough I thought and they looked comfortable at the back. Saying that Grant made two good saves that kep them in the game, but it was two points dropped today.
Disappointing to drop points today, but to say our auto chances are now gone is overreacting. we'll make it!
Update of the form table and we're still top (OK, Watford are now level) It;s not all doom and gloom, as with just a smidgen more luck, we could have taken all 3 points yesterday.
You can see fairly clearly on the FLS that that is exactly what happened, but would have been very difficult for the officials to see it!!!
On another day this could have been a comfortable win. As it is we comprehensively outperformed a team above us - who desperately need players to return or could quickly drop out of contention for an auto place. Don't see any need for alarm. The team functioned very well, created half a dozen really good opportunities, forced their keeper into important saves. We are still a win away from being in the top two. No way will any team stay unbeaten until the end of the season, so everything to play for. Looks like a nail biting end of the season and could easily go to the final games of the season as there are so many teams competing for the top spots. Quite probably this will be the most exciting league in all Europe going into those final games. Part of me wishes it would be more straight forward, at the same time it makes every game involving the top six so exciting.
Tough game yesterday. Derby, minus their best striking options, came for a 0-0. Even when they went behind to a fabulous team goal they still refused to be drawn out of their defensive shape. They offered nothing going forward until the second half when they had two or three corners in quick succession and unfortunately Ruddy made a gaff. Not seen it on tv yet but I've seen some suggest there was a foul - I must admit I didn't see anything wrong with the goal in real time, and I was very close to it, but even if there was a foul I think Ruddy should be disappointed. He had two things to deal with yesterday - a long range mishit shot from Ince which he spilled and then the goal. Not his best performance, thats for sure, and certainly cost us two points. We had total control of the game in the first half and although Derby had more possession second half, they never really looked like carving out a chance. So another missed opportunity but Derby got that bit of luck yesterday and I think we are now due some of our own. Regardless, top two is still very much on. Play offs I feel now virtually guaranteed baring a calamitous collapse.
I find it odd that people keep saying ruddy cost us two points - if the chances had been taken- then his gaff would have counted for **** all- it's a team game
True to a certain extent - there was still time to fix his error. However, Derby literally created no chances during the entire 90 minutes. We were 1-0 up at the time and we handed their goal to them on a plate. I think on this occasion you have to say Ruddy cost us two points. He's saved us plenty of times in the past - just one of those things.
Or if the chances had been taken earlier in the games - but if and ands were pots and pans there'd be no need for tinkers
Fair enough. It is extra frustrating though when you think how little Derby offered and we still contrived to not win that game!
