Bit extreme that I reckon Dave. If he can bag half a dozen goals from now until the end of the season, which is certainly doable with the creative talent we have in our ranks, then that'll do for me thanks
I don't think I'm being extreme, I agree he is a very good goal scorer, but we would basically be a ten man team facing an eleven man team, if our ten men could produce enough chances for him then he is likely to find the target sometimes, but would we be good enough to keep out strong opponents with only ten men working?
To further damage Derby I would like to sign him on loan but I imagine he has one of the highest wages at Blackburn as they failed the fair play thing so a permanent move would have to be negotiated on the basis of his performances. At £12m no way , we may as well go in for that chump Fulham bought from Leeds .
I'm not sure I entirely agree with this either. With his goal scoring record, his very presence on the pitch will keep centre halfs slightly honest, yes he won't work as hard as Grabban, but with the quality we possess we can pick 9 other outfield players that press the ball enough that he could still be a good option. If you had him or Morris on the bench and 70minutes have elapsed vs Wigan, who would you bring on to nick a goal? Bah!
Evidently Florist are now front runners to sign Rhodes having put together an offer to buy him outright for £8M should they win promotion. He's alledgedly on 40K per week !
If he goes to Forest that would help, at that price I wouldn't want him. We have Becchio doing nothing and both Winkel and Lafferty on loan ,wasting more money on expensive attackers would be silly until we offload some others.
Yep - strikers are for striking IMO. But if there's any manager who might be able to spur him into doing a bit more for the team, it would be Neil
73 in 124 for Hudders 65 goals in 123 for Blackburn and 25 years old so if that 1 trick is scoring goals he's pretty good at it.
....and Oh the irony should he join us and then go on to score the goal that takes us back to the land of milk and honey !
Sounds like a non-starter. http://www.itv.com/news/anglia/upda...ves-to-quash-norwich-city-rhodes-speculation/
That sounds pretty conclusive Cromer. Shame, because I rate him very highly, looks like Lafferty is the immediate go to guy, at least in the very short term.
I must admit I am not sure that it does sound that conclusive. He could have said "Jordan Rhodes will not be leaving Blackburn Rovers on loan or otherwise in the near future". Instead he said: "I don't even understand why we would consider loaning Jordan" To which the simple responses include: because someone is willing to pay good money for it which Blackburn needs because Bowyer doesn't understand Blackburn's financial situation because Rhodes wants to leave because the Venkys tell Bowyer that it is going to happen If anything, I'd say that's a typical manager's evasive response where something going on behind the scenes is out of his control, but he obviously doesn't want it to happen.
Still not quite overwhelmed and if ~£10m is the price of this deal I still think its a waste of money, however preventing Derby from bringing in another striker would be very valuable to us.
Were we to sign him I think we'd have more Scotland internationals in our squad than Celtic or Rangers. Can't image that a Championship club has been in that situation before.
