I can understand that people are fed up with pages of nonsense in some of the threads but it really does take two to tango. If people are so adamant that these guys are setting out to WUM and abuse, then why do they keep taking the bait by responding? These guys are not arguing with themselves. Show some restraint guys and girls!

I'm guessing they were bored anyway and just wanted some attention Dave.

I doubt very much they were actually valued posters, they might be pleasant but probably not interesting enough to stand above any comments between fans.

Tbf carrabuh, that could be turned back on you - are you saying only you are entitled to decide who are "valued posters"?

I'm dying to know who gets on your list! I can only think of one... <laugh>

I'm amazed anybody really cares. I just had a sneaky peak on the Ipswich board and both Guru and Warky say they don't care about being banned (though clearly they do). I couldn't give a fudge either. I was happy enough for the last couple of weeks just ignoring them. They were SOOOOOO boring. Doesn't work for everyone and if something more sinister has happened then I think short bans might be useful but I honestly can't believe the amount of people who think its something of a big deal. It's not. They were pillocks for a long time - they'll be pillocks when they return.

Looks like I've chosen a wonderful time to log on, perhaps I should have spent another couple of hours at work!

    My thoughts/input:

-firstly this is for three weeks, and we'll see how it goes. And by that I mean both the thoughts expressed to mods directly, in threads such as this or by PM, but also by looking at how the dynamic changes on the board. It's an experiment, and if at the end the consensus is that it was a waste of time, then I'll be the first to apologise to JWM and Guru.

-The timing looks poor because this wasn't a quick decision. Discussions were had over the weekend, from before the derby kicked off. The fact the result was generally met with good grace by those effected shouldn't mean we ignore everything that went before. Other options were considered, some of which have been outlined by others. The decision wasn't taken lightly, nor without compromise.

-I've not been privvy to any details of PMs received by other mods, nor would I wish to be. If someone has made contact with another mod in confidence then I see no need to pry. It's enough for me that multiple PMs were received, and various voices on this thread have expressed similar opinions.

-once again, we're damned if we do and damned if we don't. The situation was clearly making some members unhappy, and interfering makes a different set unhappy. At the end of the day our aim is to make this board an enjoyable place to read Norwich related discussions, and having to pick out the debates from petty squabbles and point-scoring doesn't seem in line with that.

-As has been mentioned somewhere in the sprawling mess of debate that cover this issue, it takes two to tango. A wum post is only as good as the response it gets, so it'd be nice to see more people rise above it. That's not meant to detract from the fact that a lot of the time that's exactly the approach many members take, it's just easier to spot when it isn't!

I haven't even noticed anyone has left.

People come and go from these boards all the time, I think they just want to give reasons so they can be asked to come back.

It's definitely been quieter of late (myself included, though not because of those two) and I imagine there are a few 'lurkers' who would be put off joining by it.

I suppose the proof will be in the pudding.. If those who have voiced their disquiet on here and via PM don't actually post more regularly in the 3 weeks without the 'terrible two' than they have been previously then the experiment will have a clear conclusion and we move on.. Though on the other hand if these 'lurkers' now become more regular contributors then that will prove the mods were right to exercise their ability to conduct the experiment. I suppose either way lessons will be learnt by the mods..

Let's just hope these 'Lurkers' are no worse than JWM & Guru... :emoticon-0136-giggl

Like supers, I realy don't care one way or another if they are banned, I think you will definitely have helped achieve the stated aim above by having them banned. But as another poster highlighted it takes two to tango. I do find some of the exchanges with them exceedingly dull and I'm not sure why everyone who does respond, respondes, but that is their choice too.
For me I have been finding often there is so much crap to wade through, that I have less time or inclination at the end to then post myself.
I say keep em banned for now, and hope that they are a little less prolific in their wummery upon their return. I like having the odd rival fan on here, even binners! to get outside opinion and perspective. But theose two seem to add very little more than wummery of late and it's boring in my umble!

    Bah!

Definitely agree with what people are saying about others rising to their comments. But then we shouldn't be expected to ignore half the comments on a thread because 2 people can't stop posting boring nonsense!

Haven't got involved so far, but pretty much agree with this.

One is like an annoying wasp at a picnic, the other though often resorts to personal insults (calling one City fan a boring c*** recently for example), and is far more deserving of a ban in my opinion.

Is this what we want people visiting this forum to read? Is this what WE want to read? No wonder no ladies post here any more (and I don't mean Carla!)

Yes, having the same point regurgitated ad infinitum is tedious, but for this I use the ignore function until it's blown over. Personal insults are altogether different, and break the rules of the forum, so anyone doing so can hardly complain.

Let it be known that if we lose tonight it will be because we threw the game in support of the Ipswich 2,we will then beat you later in the season you will stay down and it will all be the Canaries fault, ban him and reinstate the 2 before its too late.
