It's also worth noting that Norwich contributors in the past have put off a number of posters on this board as well. It isn't simply a case of the 'bad boys in Blue' I have never really seen the need for a ban even when there have been some colourful exchanges on the other side, but that said I don't like meddling in on any other boards so I'll let Dave (& co) continue to run a tight ship.. though I always fear that no good can ever really come from temporary banning such as this..
The only way really to deal with these sort of things is in person. Reading words on a thread makes it a lot harder to really interpret the intentions of what people are saying. People are likely to get offended if they interpret something meant as a joke as serious.
I don't think that's relevant. Norwich posters have been banned too. And this has nothing to do with being "in blue". Otherwise all you binners would be banned! It's everything to do with the way they treat this board and, in particular, their addiction to it. You only have to look at their reaction to see it's not healthy for them! If someone they listen to could just have a word with them to understand where to draw the line, it would be a hell of a lot easier for all concerned.
My point was to remind those stating that threads are always "derailed" by the 2 in question, that they are not alone and that Norwich 'fans' have been known to cause a bit of a stir. This is the same across the whole site and was more of a comment to highlight that this is an internet forum where at any given minute someone could offend you as easily as you offend them... probably could have worded that better still Your final point is one that I wholeheartedly agree with. My view is that banning is the extreme, although I won't show disagreement with the mods on here as it is their call and I cannot profess to know the complete ins and outs on this board as I don't spend enough time to be able to have the full picture..
When it comes to internet forums/threads, I was always of the understanding that 'banning' was only ever carried out when a member of the forum had breached the 'forum/thread rules'. I'm assuming that is the case on here, along with every other internet forum I have ever been a member of.
Judging by the topics I posted on before the derby / after the derby I cannot for the life in me figure out why any were banned but that's up to whoever has banned them. Everything seemed a laugh! I found some opinions of Ipswich Crazee beyond a joke by your lot. If I ever heard anyone saying some of the things I read about someone disabled I would have serious words with them in person, regardless of what team they support. Absolutely disgusting. As far as I can tell, most of you have contributed well on our board, and even when you've gone on the wind up / said negative things whatever, banning isn't the answer for sure!
Judging by some of the comments coming from your side of the fence, it appears standards are either lower than they are here, or non-existent. That is not meant as an insult, just a fact from what I observe. You do not tend to get flooded with visitors, ergo a more relaxed stance can be afforded. I would imagine though, that if enough visitors were to visit the IT board, on a similar level, in the same manner, then KOPR would soon see complaints coming his way.
Edited that slightly Thai!!! The Ipswich crazee comments have really got my back up, by all means call me and the rest all things under the sun but there is a line!
But the Norwich fans who've caused a bit of a stir have also been banned! And as has been said multiple times, it's not actually about them being offensive (to my knowledge) though they did resort to that. It's the intolerable persistence of their petty wumming. The one thing I would say is I don't understand why a number of Binners have come on here protesting that a ban is "extreme". It's really the only tool that there is for moderators. It's that or you might as well just make them helpless (which you will note has been Guru's tactic persistently to take away the option of banning to give him free reign). It's a ban for 3 weeks FFS! That sounds much like being sent to the headmaster's office to cool down. It's not as if they've been ordered to lose a hand.
I was not very amused with them. One " fan / human " even said they'd be embarrassed if someone like that supported Norwich - you sir are a class a **** and I'm glad you don't support Ipswich that's for sure. I embrace any fans supporting us. I doubt you'd say anything like that away from a computer...........
Okay, I know I have warped sense of humour but all this 'talk' of - always the victim, got me thinking about Islamists, then you go and write - It's not as if they've been ordered to lose a hand.
apologies! I didn't mean to suggest that they're terrorists... though terrorising our board probably is the best description!
I totally understand where you are coming from Westy, but on the flip side of the coin, although he clearly has a disability of some sort, he hardly does himself any favours but plastering himself on YouTube.
I would say he is doing himself a massive favour by expressing himself and doing something he absolutely loves!? Passion for us " hatred " for you. Fair play to the guy, he's actually quite inspirational in achieving more than a lot of the idiots fully abled that waste their life.
Yes, that is a fair point but he is doing it on a platform where 'invisible' people no longer have to be politically correct, if they choose not to be. That is not to say I am defending such comments but comments that are aimed in his direction, are inevitable as it comes with the territory.
