this was on the Sky NEws comment sabout Jack Cork signing for Saints ...hilarious "I am a burnley fan and i am disgusting. Burnley are a massivley bigger club than southampton and burnley offer him everything he needs. some good players guaranteed footy. everything. and anyway, southampton were in league1 about 2 months ago and i hope some time he'll come to his senses and change his mind. He only got where he i by playing for Burnley. he played in the premier league and had an amazing season last year but hopefully we can get another good midfielder. he fitted into the squad pefectly and all i can say is hes wrong. come back jack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "
"Sorry who are burnely????? How many times and for how long have burnley played in the premier league??? how big is they re stadium??how many international players have played for them compared to saints over the last 20 years??? Loser!!!!!!!
the only thing about burnley that they have over us possibly, is Jay Rodriguez. wouldnt mind him down saints
A Burnley fan sneering at Southampton! We have had a fall from grace but we're going back where we belong.
Perhaps we should remind Burnley that he was not their player but a Lonee. The only offer accepted by Chelsea was ours. There is no confirmation that Burnley even put in a bid. That is the chance you take when you bring in Lonee's. They are in the shop window for all to see and unless you have a pre agreement to sign him. Then you have to bite the bullet some times. Look at the number of times it has happened to us. I am not sure that Burnley can say they are a bigger club than us would not have said their following these days was any where near ours. However if that is what they think then so be it, it doesn't mean it's true though!
Some of you are asking who are Burnley.....some of us are old enough to remember when they were a good club and were considered to be a big club. Not a United or Arsenal but they had some really decent players. Like our neighbors down the road they have been champions league 1 (Premiership) twice been runners up twice and have won the FA cup. The last time they were in the top division prior to their recent run was early to mid 70's. Like a lot of the northern teams they couldn't attract investment they went down in to the basement leagues from about the 70's and eventually came out div 4 champions in 91/92. A bit of a roller coaster ride until they were eventually promoted via the play offs in 2008/9 to the premier. So a club with a lot of tradition and history. Right them off at your peril!!
Do keep up fatletiss I posted this yesterday morning at 10.15. Just take a look at this thread. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/63394-Sunderland-Sign-Cork If I am on your ignore button then you are always going to be a day behind with the news.
Do you some research crazy man and you'll find that Cork couldn't have gone to a better club in the champioship,a club with a great future ahead.
In the seventies Burnley were a bit like we are now; great at producing young players and having them bought by top flight clubs. One of our most fiery players came from Burnley at that time a young man by the name of Brian O'Niell.
My Mum's from Burnley, and even she'll admit that they can't compete with Saints, either financially or in footballing terms. They do have history, but then again, so do the Romans - and where are they now? (and what have they ever given us?)
I think most people born in the 80's and 90's would also need to google it Fran. Since that covers most footballers and will for a while yet, I doubt it would have much bearing on who they may sign. Most will think of them as a Championship team who went up and back down again a few seasons ago.
Burnley were a top flight side in the early seventies, indeed, but i also remember them being bottom of the old Division 4 in the late eighties. Their time in the "spotlight" is over, and soon they will fade away into oblivion again.
