Don't understand the reversion to 442, especially when playing so narrow and not supplying anything to the strikers. I dont agree that Murphy has been anonymous, hes just not had the smae service. Our strikers can and will be a threat in this league, but they need the service.
Mick picks the side, chooses the formation and dinosaur tactics. Mick decides what loan players he would like to go after, i mean Chaplow and Varney ffs, they have hardly played this season and cant get a look in at their respective clubs, yet in Micks mind, Chaplow is good enough to start, which then forces Bru out wide and yet again, this results in another player playing out of position!! We actually had 4 players playing out of position when its not needed ffs
Norwich didnt look great but that was not down to us causing them problems, it was because they knew they didnt have to be great and they never got out if second gear, had we scored, i think they would have just kicked on again. As i said i dont mind losing to a better side if you give it a damn goid go but that never happened!!
I of course would love to see Town getting promotion, but if the quality we saw today got us in to the Premiership next season i would be astounded
Mick does pick the side, true, so the argument that 'the buck stops with him' can be valid, but I think it's a very simplistic line of reasoning. The players on the field are ultimately responsible for their performances and playing to their potential. We have a limited squad, but one that has undergone a period of great form and are clearly play off contenders. However, in 2015, we've looked inconsistent and poor at times, I think that comes down to the opposition clueing themselves up on us and taking appropriate measures to nullify our direct ideology and maybe focus better. Could it be that some clubs were simply too complacent when they played us earlier on in the campaign? McCarthy deserves criticism for his starting eleven, too cautious and lacking in versatility for me, but the players on the pitch once again let down the supporters when it came to a big game. Chaplow and Varney, sadly, look like poor signings. It was vital to bring players in as we looked short of numbers. But we were crucially crying out for pacy, inventive attacking players. We brought in one, Freddie Sears, who has done well for us on the most part and looked our most potent threat against Norwich. But we are a club with a lack of finances, a small budget, and an inability to tempt players to the club, as in the case with Knockaert. Compare our budgets and spending with Derby, Middlesbrough, Bournemouth, Norwich, and a majority of teams in this division, and we come up short. It's frustrating really. I agree Norwich didn't look great, but tactically, they had us figured out pretty quickly. Open the scoring, keep alert for high balls, and press our players into making mistakes and rushing passes. It's similar to what Reading did to us last weekend. That's where my main criticism with McCarthy is centred. The lack of a 'plan B' which leads to teams seeing out games. We did slightly better than our exploits against Reading in that we did intermittently threaten Norwich's goal and could very well had nicked a goal. But it's this lack of composure and imagination that has let us down against a wily opposing team.
Got to say guys I'm very surprised and disappointed at what I saw today from both the team and the fans. Is that how you've got to where you are? With hoof ball? Dredfull stuf, I'd hate to pay to watch that every week. We never hit the heights of recent games today and still I felt won the game comfortably. I think you'll get found out now and sadly drop out of the playoff places. Never mind maybe we'll meet up again in few seasons time.
To be fair to Mick with the resources he has had you really should be worrying about relegation rather than the play offs. It's a bit like a Formula 1 team trying to build a car from spare parts. I think he has done remarkably well with what he has had whereas we have more or less still got a Premiership side. Wherever you end up I think that MM has had a good season.
Don't get too cocky. Still plenty of games to go and only 2 points above us. We're decent at bouncing back and you're bound to have a dip.
Sorry but dont agree, had he played people in their natural positions..... Mick moves people about to accomodate his favourites
Back from the game and to say I'm angry is an understatement. Spanish is bang right here we didn't remotely give it a proper go today very poor. Norwich didn't play that well either a result was on the cards. Chaplow did alright should have stayed on. Annoyed. Sears was unlucky. Tommy Smith jesus what was he doing, Chambers gash at RB Mings boy he was horrific and Tabb well he had a shocker. Skuse was no way fit and limited by an early yellow and offered nothing. Annoyed.
Welly it's not a case of **** the result we were ridiculous at times! That said, Sears had two great chances. Need to see the highlights back. Cracking atmosphere, train hilarious under the stands hilarious good laugh in the stands. Glad I went, recommended to all to go at least once.
Watching the first half a lot of my anger was directed at Chaplow, but on reflection I would have taken Skuse off out of the two. At least Chaplow was contributing even if not very effectivley, Skuse was anonymous. I think you're a little harsh on Mings, he at least showed desire to carry the ball and take on his opponent. What Tabbs set pieces were all about I'd love to know, why try and be clever when we have Murphy Berra and Smith waiting to attack a decent cross?
" Watching the first half a lot of my anger was directed at Chaplow " Why? Only midfielder who wanted the ball, challenged well, tackled well, passed well won headers. How he got taken off was beyond me he was different class to Skuse or Tabb. Half the reason why Chaplow wasn't contributing as well as he could is the rest of the midfield were like statues and had no balls.
Probably because he was noticeable in what he was doing. Lots of misplaced passes get a lot more groans than a statement of "oh yeah skuse is playing" every now and then. Tabb I thought put in a very similar performance, it was his set pieces that angered me.
Tabb's set pieces were horrific apart from a bit of quick thinking that put Sears 1v1. What an awful first touch sadly!
we have had our dip mate, you are going in too yours. fancy us for top two and honestly think you will finish 7 or 8. by the way its true, could not belive how quiet your fans were on sunday.
