I'm sure Chester and Hobbs played together when Gerrard got injured once?? And if not they definitely played together in a 5 man defence at stages.
Unless he wants wing backs with rosenoir and dudgeon and 3 in the centre. Which I wouldn't want. I just can't see them spending big bucks on Ayala when we have more pressing needs. We need a left midfielder most of all.
Not a bad idea actually, would make us solid at the back, give us width, utilise more of our overflowing CM and still give us space to play 2 strikers. I wouldn't be suprised to see this formation used quite often if I'm honest at least until we have Stewart back. Midfield of Evans, McKenna, Koren.. all other places speak for themselves.
i think ayala is top, as good as what we have and can only get better. if we pick up for <1.5mil then its an investment and i dont think we can have too many class cbs. all it takes is a poor run of form from chester/hobbs/ayala for a swap.
