Against my better judgement, I am throwing my CV in for a job with the bitters...

However I've hit a stumbling block with this question....

"In less than 200 words, explain why you would like to work at Everton Football Club"

I've never been a good bare faced liar.

I'm sure not every one in the IT department is a fan.

2 options - Instead of being specific to Everton say you are passionate about football and would like to contribute to one of English footballs most established clubs.

or

Forget football and look at Everton as an internationally acclaimed business and brand.

Great Minds Flappy, I went with the second option. For all my joking, I don't have any problems with Everton, and would like them to finish just behind us in everything. I prefer them to teams from other cities.

I wonder if the HR dept are dead PC over the obvious question that you'd want to ask every applicant for a job at EFC?

"So lad, are you a Blue or what?"

"Kopite <yikes> Get the **** out"

<laugh>

Just tell them you think Bill Kenwright is the best playwright the country has ever known and that you've got a collection of every Sly Stallone movie ever made and that you eat a quarter of Everton Mints a day.

They'll know your lying to get the job but you'll be consistent with what all their current employees said on their application forms.

Edit: Not forgetting that you live on County Road.

I would literally love if they were cos they would then be entriely open to law suit

Even if they simply asked do you support everton or any other club they would break the law.

anyway............ they don't need to... all the need is your cv... then if they have any sort of set up they will seek out your online profiles... be it facbook or whatever and find a pic of you in an lfc shirt and never have to say a word to you bar thanks for your application.

If you get an interview i'll be amazed.

Its discrimination. any sort is illegal if you for example asked are you gay, or say said to someone... have you found being ginger a problem in the past... or even... you're a bit short t reach the keyboard to a midget you'd be in trouble

You cannot set a rule saying only everton fans need apply...... you can however use the person's online profile to screen out undesirables from outside the city. (like all reds fans apparently :bandit:)

Asking the question wouldn't be discrimination, only if you could prove that merely being a kopite was the reason you weren't employed.

Can't say I've ever heard of that precedent, albeit I'm sure if there's one out there I'm about to find out <laugh>

The 200 words will be essentially the same crap no matter who you are applying to, just the particulars are different but the variables are the same.
Am sure you have some old lies lying around you can modify to fit your appliation<laugh>

Absolute rubbish mito. Asking for people's personal interests isn't discrimiation FFS <doh>

As Tobes said you'd have to prove that was the reason you didn't get the job which could be tricky, unless they wrote on the interview notes saying that...

Only if it was asked in an official capacity and used in judgement. Nothing to stop them asking a general friendly question. However, I have no doubt that it would be used unofficially <laugh>

Equal opportunities act.

  • indirect discrimination - putting rules or arrangements in place that apply to everyone, but that put someone with a protected characteristic at an unfair disadvantage
The "protected characteristic" would be him being a red?
