Could we please,please,please put a hold on talks of promotion for at least 4 weeks time.
I know it sounds pessimistic but I just know that there so,so many slip ups to come.

Im not usually like this but as I have said before I have seen so many false dawns that all this talk about auto promotion/play offs is driving me crazy and you KNOW that if we do fail the relentless pisstaking from the obsessed binners would be pretty hard to take.

So please,just for me.However if we win on Sunday I will allow it for that evening

I'm with you Crowey! I understand the current swathe of optimism sweeping its way through every fan - I feel it myself - but winning promotion is far from a forgone conclusion. Tonight is a massive game (I suppose they all are from hereon in). I personally feel having beaten Watford, a draw would suffice at Ewood Park, so long as victory is sealed on Sunday. We've got a horrendous record at Blackburn, which although probably irrelevant does concern me. But there is such a long way to go and so many permutations as we enter the run in. Pride usually comes before a fall but at the end of the day, what I hear from our manager makes me disregard the fans trumpet-blowing to a certain extent, as it is clear he and the players are fully focussed and that's all that matters. I think if we come through tonight and Sunday having picked up 6 more points, we will go on and win the division. Those six points are not guaranteed, not by a long stretch.

Sorry, you are the deity that has knowledge of the future? You KNOW that there are slip ups to come. Well, I am sure we will all bow before your superior intellect and godliness. I, in my human mortality, can see the possibility of such a scenario, but with a firm mind and a real grasp of current realities, I can also see the possibility of something exceptional occurring in our charge for the promised land. I know which mind set I would rather follow.

I agree with your sentiments Crowey and will be sure to temper any over-enthusiasm as you are right to caution this situation. Obviously we are all feeling a hell of a lot better after the last couple of months and have to a degree let our emotions get ahead of us. I think we are safely confident of the play-offs but the automatics are still slightly on the hopeful side at this time. Tonight is a big night and we could be back to where we were before Saturday which in iself would cool things a bit. As Guru keeps saying (quite rightly) there will be a lot of twists and turns bu mid May.

Fair point Crowey, but I think we are going to get teased (perhaps justifiably) if we fail to get promoted whether we've talked it up or not. In fact, they've been at it since day 1.

I know that us English have a tendency to prefer humility to bravado, don't like to tempt fate, etc. But some winners are where they are because of supreme confidence. Take a look at how Muhammad Ali talked before a bout, or how the Australians talk before just about any match in any sport (but mostly cricket). A confident, roaring, crowd at Carrow Road urging the team forward is much more likely to get us promoted than a tentative crowd that is constantly worrying about failing.

Enthusiasm infects others with enthusiasm. It's all about having a good positive energy about the club.

We do have the best individuals. We are the best-placed team to stay in the PL if we get promoted. I'm starting to believe we may have the best manager. And I can also see this manager is forming the best players into the best team in the league, as they should be. We are more than capable of doing what it takes to get automatic promotion (albeit I don't really care how we do it). I am confident on that basis we will.

So I hope you'll forgive me for not stopping talking about promotion because I sincerely believe we will get it. And if we don't I am prepared to swallow whatever bitter tonic I have to as a consequence.

I think I'd just rather believe the best than worry about what might go wrong! So in a way, while the Binners will take the piss regardless, I don't see us failing as a "fall", more just that I will have to admit I got my beliefs wrong. And, unlike the Binners, I am quite happy to hold my hands up and admit my mistakes!
