Just another reason why my love for the club has turned rapidly into hate. Borley will be chewing his own srotum in temper at being stopped from attending tonights game by the crazy Emperor. Quiet dignified silence would have sufficed, instead club officials are coerced by the rantings of a man acting like a spoilt child. This nonsence could provide the lift Wigan needed.

Someone once said "the common man can have principles but only the wealthy can afford them". Tan fits the bill to a tee.

I see this as an unnecessary aggravation of an old wound - like scratching a scab off before it's healed to make sure it doesn't.

The club as is being dangled on a string like a puppet by Tan for his own agenda in his pursuit of Mackay. He will not let it go.

That's my biggest concern. They're a seriously dispirited bunch at the moment, we don't need to give MM or Whelan anything to try and rally them around.

I doubt it. I think you'll find the Wigan supporters are disillusioned with Malky and so is Whelan. As far as the players on the pitch are concerned though, I don't think they need any incentives other than their possible contracted wage reductions if they go down a tier.

Whelan has been spending a lot of his time in his home in Barbados for the past couple of months spitting feathers watching the demise of his club in the table. There was some strong speculation in the local rags up there that he was coming back for this one, and the wrong result would be enough to make him pull the plug on Malky in the same way he did on Rosler.

I've actually predicted a win for Wigan in the prediction league as I've got a greater (footballing) respect for Mackay than Slade - as individuals I think Slade wins hands down, but that won't decide a football result.

Depends who you believe on this one I suppose. Early reports seemed to suggest that Tan had ordered the boycott, but now a lot of papers are reporting it differently. This is from the Manchester Evening News.........

""The boardroom boycott is a show of sympathy for Cardiff owner Vincent Tan, who is understood to be unhappy over the Football Association's handling of racism investigations into Wigan owner Whelan and former Bluebirds boss Mackay.

Club sources have said Tan did not order directors to miss the Wigan game but board members wanted to show their support for the Malaysian businessman in the wake of comments made by Whelan and the ongoing FA investigation regarding Mackay.

Whatever the reasons, the rights and wrongs of this, its our club in the limelight for the wrong reasons again.

Sparkey........ your second quote suggesting directors were not ordered to miss the Wigan game came from CLUB SOURCES.......does any one actually believe that any one at the club has the BALLS to portray Tan in anything other than a positive manner!!!! Any one who thinks Tan isn't behind this decision is extremely naiive. In answer to the OP, Extremely Petty and totally unnecessary.

Well we're not getting in the limelight on the pitch that's for sure.

Not sure "the wrong reasons" argument stacks up to be honest - you either support Mackay's off pitch history or you're against it. Looks like the club has a whole are against it and are making a statement.

I'd have no time for Tan if he's orchestrated this, but as always, it's in the reporting of it that comes across. Just maybe it really is a show of solidarity for him as reported.

Whiff - where else do expect the sources to come from?

Maybe being naive is a tad better than being so obsessed about him that everything is laid at his door.

Statto....totally agree, but in the absence of anything happening on the field, at least its' sparked some debate?

How many views/responses would a post called 'Our Best Back Four' get, for instance?

Sparkey.....you don't have to be obsessive to believe that Tan is behind this.....how many replies have there been for 'Principles' as opposed to 'Pettiness'....do you believe that Tan had nothing to do with it?

No idea Whiff, but then neither do you, eh?

Anyone can assume what they like, it doesn't alter the fact that Tan controls the club but not necessarily others seriously involved in it like Borley.

Toeing the party line maybe the right call, but I tend to get a bit pissed off when some take stances to support their own wishlist without the facts.
