I hope that this post is allowed - Mods, if there's any reason this can't be posted, please let me know and it can be removed.

I'll not beat around the bush: this is a blatant appeal for funds.

Some friends of mine are currently at what should be the most joyful moment of their lives, the birth of their first child, a little boy called Teddy. However, this has been hit massively, with the news that Nina was diagnosed with cancer that meant an early and emergency c-section before treatment can start.

They are looking to raise funds for treatment that isn't currently available on the NHS, but is vital because of the location of the cancer.

Please can I ask people to take a few minutes to read their story at the link below, and, if you are able, give a little something towards their goal? We're doing lots of other fundraising activity, but I'm trying to spread the net as wide as possible to give them the best chance of reaching their target.

Thanks for your patience and attention.

Chaz

Watford, it's really new treatment procedure and currently costs around £13000 per session.

More important to get the money than to blame the NHS whilst people suffer.

I've donated Chaz, it's not a great amount.. but I hope it's a case of every little helps. I wish them all the best and hopefully Nina makes a full recovery.

Done what I can, Chaz. A terrible worry for the family and her friends and I sincerely hope she gets the treatment she needs.

Guys, thank you so much. I really appreciate this, and you're right - every single donation helps immensely, not just for the funds but for the boost that people's interest and care gives them.

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. I've posted this on the other active PL boards, and some of them have been very generous, both with donations and with good wishes.

As of now, the fund stands at a little short of £23,000, which is just inspiring.

There are some good people around here, even some who wear strangely coloured shirts...
