Then we sell him for the best price we can get...JRod is nice to have, but not essential. I think he has been noticeable by his absence...players in his position are usually active with fans, the foundation etc. I can only remember the testicular cancer infomercial. He has moved on in his head...let him go and spend the money on someone who wants to be here.

Last summer showed me that we have replacements ready when needed. If he does not want to play for us then sell him. As long as we can steal money from someone I don't care. Players who want to play are what we need. I would say someone with more desire but less skill is more valuable than the reverse.

I Agree Fran. I think Beefy and I were the ones getting stuck for saying he's gone already, ages ago.

It's such a shame that is where its heading as he's going to be some player (assuming recovery)
 
Apart from any other factor, Jay has been paid throughout the last 11 months, presumably at his basic salary. On top of that, the cost of the medical and rehabilitation treatment he has received will be pretty astronomical. Now, as we are a sustainable business these days, someone has to pay for all that: either Jay himself, by playing and scoring lots of lovely goals, or another club, by way of a hefty transfer fee.

Good shout, Fran. Who was that lovely lad we had who seemed to be forever injured (anyone saying Delgado can get their coat now). A very nippy winger, we bought him from Derby, I seem to remember. Scored an absolute screamer at the Chapel end. He got an award from the fans for his off field work, but in the end we had to let him go - Swindon, maybe. God I hate this bloody dementia! Anyway, if Jay had wanted to "repay" the club he could, as that lad did, have had a bit of a profile as you suggest.

I rated Jay as soon as he came here, and blokes I know who support Burnley reckon he was a snip at £7m. Great potential, but now I just want us to get an absurdly high fee for him. Come on, Brendan, you know you want to.

That would be Lee Holmes. I'll try to shed a bit more light on the Jay stuff if/when he moves on, but best not to for now.

Actually I think it's probably paid for by an insurance company.
 
As I (and others) have been saying the whole season enjoy Morgan, Clyne for this season as they are 90% gone. You won't get to enjoy Jay as he won't be back in time.

Holmes just blew out his knee and never recovered. It's a shame as he was a quality player who I think would have made it in the Premier League. I remember when he finally got back into the side and put together a run of 3-4 games where he was playing well. Then he hurt it again, and you could see the frustration in his face. I think he probably knew at that point he'd never be 100% again.

As for Clyne, Schneiderlin, and Rodriguez I feel like if we get into CL we might be able to get one of them to change their minds. Rodriguez would up his wages quite a bit if he can prove himself healthy and he'll get more chances here and now on a bigger stage. I've always thought Schniederlin prefers Arsenal, so if we make CL and Arsenal and maybe Spurs do not perhaps we get another year out of him.

If we don't get CL, pretty sure all those players will leave. Could see Wanyama joining them. But I do think there's a good chance we can at least avoid another ****show like last year with players going to the press and all that.

Was trying to explain to my missus why I felt as I did about Lallana. I explained that if Morgan goes we'll all weep into our beer, but he will maintain his status as a good 'un because he will handle it more intelligently. Players leaving is something we've always had to live with - even Channon went off to City for a while - it's the manner of it that offends. This should be on another thread, I realise, but it is AL's obtuseness that is staggering. He really doesn't see why we were offended by his conduct. Twat!

Note. This verbal free flow is bought on by travelling down here with 3 scousers who have gone off to take their seats while I stand outside plucking up the courage to go in to the ground. God we must win today!
