OK, Atkinson had a shocker today.

 

I would have booked him for that.

 

He did get booked for that.

 

Can understand their frustrations though. Atkinson had an abysmal game, and he, for me, is the worst referee currently officiating. Frankly unacceptable standard. That said, Matic's reaction was a red card offence, but Barnes was the aggressor although got no punishment.

 

Oh look Chelsea conceded a goal because they DIDN'T make a substitution at a defensive set-play Cahill would have cleared that.

Where are all the tactical geniuses for our home game to united now?

 

Atkinson isn't the worst, he just had an awful game. He also took charge of Schalke v Real Madrid in the week so, apparently, he's one of the best referees in England. Hmmm.

Being a UEFA or in some cases FIFA official doesn't prove anything much - only maybe that they are just as bad as judging officials as the FA/PL/FL are.

Chelsea had some awful decisions go against them and I felt sorry for Madic.

Until I realised he would miss the game against Saints, it is now clear that the red card was thoroughly deserved as he was not the slightest provoked

 

I haven't watched the Chelsea game, was it an AutoMatic three match suspension offence?

On a serious note I hope Ashley Barnes gets a retrospective ban for his 2 fouls that went completely unpunished by Atkinson.

Don't know if anyone has seen the original BBC article, but Koeman apparently tried to talk Chambers out of move to Arsenal saying he would do better at Saints.
