Holland has been great, though many strikers struggle to hit the same goal scoring heights they do often perform well.

Got to be careful with Holland, for every Suarez you get a Huntelaar, the brazilian boro bought (Alfonso?), De Jong, etc.

Afonso Alves! Now that was one crazy flop.

I like Huntelaar and Nigel De Jong. Luuk De Jong's fitness is quite poor.

How about Germany? Arsenal have signed quite a few.

Ozil, Mertesacker, Podolski, Liemann. We've got Can and had Hamann, but also had Voronin.

Germany is certainly the market we need to shopping in - quality players but at great prices. Like the Aldi of the football world.

The biggest difference between other countries and England is if Emre Can was English he'd cost 25-35 million. Highly rated foreigners seem to be much cheaper.

    Alonso was 10 mil!

I reckon the new Alonso would cost £25m today.

Compare Can to Ross Barkley though. Some quotes say £45m for Barkley!

Yep, English 'talent' is so ****ing overpriced. We really do need to be spending more in Germany, like Jimmy said, great players at good prices. Geis springs to mind as someone we should be looking at.

the thing about all german players you need to keep in mind is they are totally self interested.

they can be great but they will suit themselves and **** you over on a free. its just they way they are they see nothing wrong with it.... so beware paying for german players.... get them on the free or at reduced rate

can had a release clause......... i'm sure without it it would have been 20mil.

alonso was in 2004... thats 11 years of inflation ago so 10 mil then was a big price......

Because the **** thing about German football is no culture of rivalries. Every good player will just **** off to Bayern regardless of their current club so their league is **** and not worth watching, which is a shame cos they're so good about fan ownership.

i'd pay 60 for barkely.... but not to relegation strugglers.. the moment he joins city thats his fee.

rodriguez went for 70 after all... gorilla boy 85... 60 is cheap for a fat plonker like barkely.

    Ross Barkley's PL career:

    64 appearances
    7 goals
    1 assist

He's not even that young any more (by Liverpool standards)

    £15m or **** off <ok>

Marseille line up Gignac replacement to pave the way for Arsenal or Liverpool transfer

MARSEILLE have lined up Fernando Llorente to replace Andre-Pierre Gignac.

Gignac is wanted by Arsenal and Liverpool and, according to reports in France, Marseille are planning for his departure.

The 29-year-old has 14 goals in Ligue 1, only behind Alexandre Lacazette in the scoring charts.

And Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers are monitoring his situation.

Llorente, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham, is struggling to make an impact at Juevntus having only scored four goals in Serie A this season.

Gignac's out of contract at the end of the season.
