morning all.

missed the game last night for a bad reason which i'll not go into.

Saw goals... preston did get lucky cos thats the worst mistake i've seen de gea make all year.

I also saw falcao going off squinting at the bard... something tells me that this guy needs glasses... coudl this be why he's such a huge flop?

The QF draw looks very interesting indeed

Huge game at old trafford...... tasty midlands derby, LFC great draw <laugh>.. potential cup drama there and two lower teams who will provide a great story for the semi final draw. something there for everyone.

Cruised through. A decent performance the last 30 too.

Preston never looked like scoring and were lucky to be ahead. Glad they did though as it sparked us into life after a dull first half.

I turned it on just after Preston had scored. As expected, Man Utd were the dominant side and were creating chances. Shame it took three dodgy goals to win the game though.

As funny as it would have been had you lost, I would like to see a Liverpool v Man Utd final too.

There's some real gnashing of teeth going on in here ffs. <laugh>

Rooney did dive, but the keeper's challenge was ridiculous, coming in feet first at that pace, when he didn't have to, was suicidal, and despite the lack of contact, i think most would have gone over there.

The offside goal was more gauling, as the keeper hesitated diving for the shot as he was anticipating Rooney making contact with the ball, so he was interferring with play and it therefore should have been ruled out imo.

Davies should have gone though <laugh> That was the most obvious yellow card you'll see all season, Dowd saved the old lad from the ignominy of the early bath in what was almost certainly his last big game.

I thought Preston did great, but as soon as United scored you knew how it was going to end. When they scored, I thought it'd come too early in the 2nd half, and so it proved.

There's no way in a quadrillion years you wouldn't have went ballistic if either those would have happened against Everton.<laugh>

You're just siding with the mancs as per.<whistle>

The game was as good as over when the penalty was given anyway and you appear to have missed the fact that I said the first one shouldn't have been given, plus he did ****ing dive <doh>

I agree with all that bar the highlighted bit. Against a much lower ranked side in the dying minutes whilst winning 2-1 and the keeper not only missed him, he went down after the challenge, he could have easily have stayed up right and got a goal still.

I don't like referring to him as it suggest a love-in affair with the lad but Suarez got slaughtered for scoring a goal via a hand ball against Mansfield. This wasn't a intentional act, it just went in off his hand, the fact he ran off celebrated wasn't great but that IS something most players would do. Equally, had Luis been the one making that dive, there would be herds of people calling for his head, again!

Simple fact is, Rooney didn't get touched, he didn't need to go down, he was in no danger (the keeper missed by that much) and he's getting away with it because he's the England captain. Much like Gerrard's got away with some stinkers over the years. Its wrong IMO, this sort of thing needs punishing.

I saw the dive... I reckon the keeper was thick as pig **** and got what he deserved.

preston got their goal but couldn't control it and hadn't the discipline or set up to frustrate utd. cambridge had that but not the goal. Utd deserved to go through in the end...

after all once van gaal hauled off falcao the game changed.... must mean van gaal is a tactical genius there boys... well done van gaal was it as revolutionary as putting on a keeper who can save a pen or was it more like oh i dunno lump it to felliani or what... i mised the game you see.

If he'd have not hurdled him, he'd have been clattered, as the challenge was late, I think the keeper's rash decision is what ulitmately caused the incident.

In real time it looked a nailed on penalty

If it had finished 1-1 PNE would have got 1.5m beer tokens, that's how much Dowd cost them because you're living in cloud cuckoo land if you think every referee would have made the same judgement on both issues.

Accidental handball is not a foul and the rule says the goal should stand.

Simulating contact and going down is a foul and Rooney should have been booked.

The keeper was that late he'd missed Rooney completely. Watch the clip again, Rooney could have continued his normal stride and his foot would have come down beyond the keeper, no way there was ever going to be contact.

I'll accept it looked nailed on in real time, from a certain angle. I don't know where the referee was stood so...

I actually think the argument about intent could have applied but still doesn't take away from the blatant and shameful dive. (I'm not just saying it because its Rooney, I said the same for Suarez and Gerrard to name just two)

The referee didn't rule on the offside, blame the lino for that and from that angle I think every referee in the ****ing land would have given that peno, you one eyed fruitcake. <laugh>

Don't tell me you watched that in real time and shouted 'dive' at the tele? <laugh>

It was one of them where you'd expect your own to go over in that circumstance and they'd be called naive if they didn't..............

I'd have been critical if one of our players had done that.

I've said for a long time now (mainly after one of the many Suarez dives) that I'd issue ten game bans to anyone that is caught blatantly diving (no contact / clear daylight between the players) and Rooney's last night is one of those.

Rooney even sticks his leg out slightly looking for the contact before the keeper actually gets there (thanks to the ridiculous pace the keeper dives in)

You are a ****ing bellend Tobes, the lino never needed to raise the flag due to Rooney being yards offside and interfering with play and fat boy Dowd was ideally placed to make his own judgement without the lino getting involved.<laugh>

As for the dive, it was blatent and he should have been booked, but you are bitter, twisted and a manc when it matters.
