I can understand why Munky (and others) is annoyed/fed up/ whatever, I have had the same with Guru over the years. Same old drivel, day in and day out. It's not big and it's not clever - and to that end you have to question the motives behind it
Do any of City posters go on their board and act in the same way? I have to ask as I have never been there and have no desire to ever do so. I get the impression that such posters have some innate masochistic tendency.
Playing devil's advocate and not wishing to fall out with anyone, I have to say that there are some (mentioning no names), City posters on here who are nearly as bad as JWM and co at when it comes to insults. However, I do find it rather childish at times as there really is no need for it. A joke is a joke but the pathetic 'inbred' (yawn) ones I would expect from fans of inner city clubs who live in godforsaken **** holes and are happy to do so, not from fans of a club in a part of the world just as rural as ours. I like the banter (just so long as it stays banter), with the1p5wich fans but rarely venture onto their board as there really is no point as most of them are obsessed with us and mainly post on ours We support the team that happens to be the biggest club in the region and represents the capital City of East Anglia so it's a price we have to pay I suppose ............... ..............lights blue touch paper
These insulting spirals simply destroy a thread and the insults weren't just on JWM's part. It takes two to make a tangle.
Im not going to get into the insults side of things, but just have question. If our style of play is so **** and so old school, how come we are where we are? surely it should be easy to defend against, thus we should be bottom! just remember, you need bad days to have good days, you need munters to have fit birds. and you need short passing style to have long passing style.
This, of course, was a thread about Norwich (we know where to post such things). I also don't want to get into insults, but can we be allowed a quota of posts without binner interventions?
To play devil's advocate.....the response you are likely to get is along the lines of "We have an opinion (on whatever the topic may be), so it is fair game to post". That is fair comment, but what is not appreciated is that many do not care what that opinion is. Without wanting to come over as rude, it's a kind of "I've got something to say, and you are going to listen, whether you want to or not" thing. Such is the nature of an open forum
Fair enough, and I guess I agree. If 'kiss my hairy arse you scumbucket' is where we're at, it's no longer something I want to be involved in.
and if that is a common train of thought, then the moderators need to act, to not lose valuable contributors.
Insults shouldn't be tolerated by either side of the fence, and I hope I don't stoop to that level, and this thread is prime example that both clubs have their fair share of abusive supporters, I can remember quite a few where no Ipswich fans have posted yet it has descended into an insult fest between Norwich fans.
Too true, we've lost some really good posters over the years although ironically the main ones that spring to mind (ILD and Redruth), left because of insults from City fans. I do my bit trying to attract new members by posting links to my match threads on Twitter every week and they are now being 'retweeted' on a regular basis so hopefully more people will come on board. It's disappointing because If potential new contributors see all this bollox it could well put them off joining. Edit:- Will certainly put off any potential 'lady' contributors who are on Twitter and there are many that follow me
I don't think I ever agreed with ILD but he left after posting a load of racist stuff. Quite right too.
Obviously I am more than capable of posting insults myself, so if someone posts stuff at me I tend to take it on the chin and fling it back, but there's definitely a line that gets crossed from time to time. I've probably crossed it myself but will always apologise if I do so. We all have passionate views but sometimes it spills over, needlessly most of the time. The issue with the frequent Ipswich visitors is that its getting increasingly boring having every single thread derailed with complete nonsense. That is why people get annoyed. They aren't annoyed because they post. They are free to join in if the fans in question post something interesting or even if there's humour involved, but we never get either of those from most of them and it just goes round and round and round until someone tells them to stick it. Rob often posts funny snippets back at Guru saying 'he knows he'd never wum' etc - it sort of sums the whole thing up though. Everybody knows they are trying to wum. They just aren't very good at it and the fact they try and pretend they aren't makes it all the more boring. Anyway, we are more than capable of derailing our own threads thank you very much!
I would NEVER condone any racist remark but at the same time mate there are things you don't know, trust me. That's my last word on the matter.
most of this I agree with supers, But most of the stuff you find 'boring' is normally stuff that contradicts a whole load of budgie chest puffing. And we are just telling you to keep your heads down and do the bragging when you have something to brag about, not before!
I won't pretend I know the ins and outs of it. ILD certainly overstepped the mark on that occasion though.
A what exactly makes you and your brothers an authority on here, to act in this way? and that is the crux of the issue - it's not really any business of the average Ipswich fan. It's a discussion between Norwich fans
