I see from one of today's Archant articles that he is wanted by both Luton and Cambridge United and there are several comments about bringing him back and at least getting him on the bench.

IMO, he played well against ManUre, but I think I would rather he spent the rest of the season on loan and we get him back to work with him in pre season to see if he's ready for inclusion in the first team squad.
 
I agree. Back out on loan, then have him for pre-season to see if he can really make the grade.

Ironically, it's players like McGeehan who would benefit from us not being promoted...
 
I disagree that us staying in this division would be the best thing for the youngsters. We might be able to use them as squad depth next season if they're good enough, and perhaps afford to lose Olsson and Tettey for example. But they'd only get infrequent games, whilst if we're in the Prem then they'll definitely go out on loan and possibly get full seasons under their belts.
 
Would have been good for him to get a full season loan somewhere at the beginning of the season, really 'learn his game'.

The awkward position that we find ourselves in where some of our youth players are nearly good enough for the first team squad isn't beneficial. Josh Murphy is the epitome of unfortunate in my eyes. Looked ok, looked good and looked poor in equal measure in his short 20 minute bursts. If we'd loaned him for the whole season to championship team with less pressure than him he may have come out twice the man. As it is he's been on the fringes neither fully involved or excluded for the whole season. Must be infuriating.

Yeah take your point DH - I meant what Billy said. It really depends - if they're good enough for the championship next year, then being promoted to the Prem might be bad for them!
 
Looks like he got a straight red in his last game and the suspension will rule him out for the rest of his loan period...

I agree Dave and I hope this is not indicative of what the future is for the players who won the youth cup last season. We need to hold onto our most promising youngsters and not letting them go.

I think for the next few years all we need to do is to start getting back the money we've invested in our youth facilities. We can do this by developing players to a sufficient level to play to form part or our first team squad, by moving them on for a profit or loaning them out whilst they continue to develop.
 
This should come as little surprise. The lad is 20 now. He's experienced league football this season, enjoyed it and wants to carry on playing. Realistically he was never going to be good enough for us. Could well end up in the Championship one day but at this moment in time, fourth tier matches his ability perfectly. Good luck to the lad. Should be praised for wanting to move his career along and Luton is a big club at that level. Expect others to follow his lead. Only the cream of the youth will make it here and I think only a couple of the FA Youth Cup winning team at most will do that.

Agree with this, I had a debate on Twitter over the weekend with Ed Couzens-Lake with regard to him moving on. He thought that we should be hanging on to our better young players. My response was that if our coaching staff thought he could cut it at this level and beyond they wouldn't be letting him go. I may be wrong but from what I've seen of him he should carve out a decent career in the lower leagues or as you say possibly one day in the Championship <ok>

It's always disappointing to see youngsters, especially those who have formed an emotional bond to supporters, leave - but frankly I've seen a lot of Cam and he's not quite good enough and I really don't think he ever will be. He'll be a great asset to a League Two club - so let him get on with his career!

OK Supers - I take your point and as you say, the coaching staff would have been able to judge whether or not he could go on to become part of the first team squad.
