Surely the guy has sold his soul I mean how can anyone be that lucky or good that quickly over and over again.
 
He is a good manager, but his secret is more about him recognising a poor one with a half decent squad; he takes over, he does the obvious and the rest is . .
 
He is a quality manager. Anyone who cannot see that is blind. This is the third time (current form so far) that he is getting underperforming teams playing well. What he does well is adapts his teams to their strengths and also gets them organised. If only more managers would do that instead of sticking with philosophies

Palace organised but also quick on the counter. Wasnt really hoofball

That's a reasonable argument at WBA, but at Palace?

Their squad was sorely lacking last season. The points he got on board there were nothing short of miraculous.

That said, he's clearly not that good a manager, all those resources he pissed away at Stoke, ok he consolidated them but for that money they should have enjoyed a more pleasing approach than the absolute dross they were served.

At Palace he took over from Holloway who admitted he was out of his depth. He recognised a decent squad and strengthened it with 5 decent signings, which he will have confirmed the money for when he signed late November. He is a good manager and turned Holloways lost boys into a decent team, it needed tweaking and he did a fine job.
Some forget he did the same at Plymouth.

Agreed that he pissed up a load of resources at stoke but maybe that was a consequence of changing things too fast. Maybe it got stale at stoke and he was stuck in his ways but he couldnt shake off the style he created at stoke.

However after his time at palace ive seen a different side to pulis and i have to give him great credit. Stuck bottom of the table miles away from his relegation rivals and he manages to get them comfortably mid table.

Just watched West Brom stuff West Ham on MOTD.

Anyone who doesn't think Pulis is an excellent manager and who bores off about him only playing hoofball must be ****ing dense.

100% agree. I dont know what more the guy can do to prove himself. He does an extraordinary job time and again yet still has his doubters. I would love to see him given a 'big job'.

Plus, far from being 'a ****' (Quill) he's probably the nicest, most approachable and self deprecating man that i have met in football.

Btw, just because I think he's a **** doesn't mean I think he's ****.

He clearly isn't an excellent manager, that's why he stalled at Stoke despite throwing around more resources than Arsenal in that time. It's why he's being picked up by PL bottom feeders desperate to avoid relegation.

He's a decent manager to do a job at one end of the table, but if he was excellent he'd be at one of the bigger clubs.

I think he sets his own ceiling for his limitations with his style he gets his teams playing. It's just not suited to the better players out there is it. David Silva probably wouldn't even make his bench.
 
There is no manager alive who hasn't bought a few players and regretted it afterwards. Had a quick look through some of Stokes purchases and dont really get the issue.

He spent 20m or close to it each season but several of his players did their job keeping them up without really troubling the bottom 3.

So you didn't watch them v West Ham, then?
 
Just to clarify I'm not saying he is a bad manager as he clearly knows how to set his teams up but it's the fact that he only seems to have to walk through the door to turn cart horses into thoroughbreds.
 
I think they'll be safe so hopefully he'll keep up his good work and take points off teams around us? Unless they have the fa cup distraction?
 
I agree that all this "philosophies" nonsense current managers use is an irrtiant.

Doing things in order to win, not play nice and hope it's enough is the way football teams should set themselves out. Win at all costs.
