ow much do we rotate for this? EL can be a burden if the squad is not managed correctly.

  3. I want us to try and win this more than the FA Cup. Winners get CL spot so I think most teams will take this competition more seriously this year

We have plenty of rest so the team should be fit going into this game, but with Saints on Sunday depends which one Rodgers sees as the most important.

I'd hope we play a strong team, would love to be in with the chance of winning this competition. I know teams in England don't tend to take it that seriously but it's a big competition and not only would it mean CL football but it'll boost the European ranking as well as be an attraction to foreign players. Look at A.Madrid, won it a few times in 3 years about 5 years ago and have gone from strength to strength since.

I agree, but I also dont want to damage our league campaign.

If we do miss out on 4th, and United finish 4th, it would be great to steal their CL spot buying winning the EL.

Doesn't work like that, both teams get CL qualification.

  9. It wouldn't steal their place, we would be a fifth English entrant

However, if we won the EL and arsenal win the CL with us both failing to get top four, then fourth would miss out

Hope Rodgers plays a strong team, yes we have Southampton on the Sunday, but we are at home so no long journey back after the game.

  11. Question, if we could only win one of the next two games, who would you choose to beat? Besiktas or Southampton...?

I really want us tog o for it in the EL but I'd go with Southampton purely because the Besiktas game is only the first leg so we could just beat them in the second match <whistle>

Would you chose 6 points from Saints & City and going out the EL...

Or 2 points from Saints and City but through to the next round of the EL....

    Much better question.

  14. Since I expect nothing from the City game, that would only be one point dropped so I'd take the EL <ok>

Shame (when its United who would have missed out).

If the 4th team did miss out and Southampton finished 4th I'd feel a bit guilty.

I remember our 8-0 over Besiktas under Rafa. Benayoun hat trick.

I feel we can still rotate and put out a strong team. Apart from in defense, they just have to play every game from now on.

    Ibe Henderson Allen Enrique
    Lallana Coutinho
    Sterling
Or as Coutinho often sits out a game when they are closer together:
    Lallana Sterling
    Borini

  19. You know Studge started tonight right? No way he won't start against Besiktas. I've got a funny feeling Balotelli's played his way into Brod's thoughts too so I wouldn't be surprised to see something like:

    Migs
    Can - Skrtel - Sakho
    Markovic* - Hendo - Allen - Moreno
    Coutinho
    Balotelli - Sturridge

    * or Ibe

Sturridge is tiring quite early in games though. I'm not sure he'll start both because of that.
