He's scared to attack teams. It's strange as he was so attacking as a player. He want's tippy tappy football to but most of the squad aren't capable of it. He needs to learn that he needs to build and evolve the squad and bring in players who are competent in the way he wants to play. In the mean time he needs to use the squad he has at his disposal and play to their strengths instead of weakening them by forcing them to play to his unattainable vision.

I would have kept Di Canio. We'd have been carved out stone by now. Warriors on the pitch who team would hate to play. I think given time he'd have kept us up, there was plenty of time.

Gus is allegedly a floor crapper and it was all covered up so I've heard.
The Mackems need to stop melting down and just move on.

  8. As I said on another thread, I can see there being some upsets. We've already had a couple.

They do have a bit of previous form.

This Geordie has obviously done some in-depth research…<ok>

    Off. RTG.

I was frantically looking for some info regarding your 9-1 win. I was convinced that there was some sort of board interference at the time that saw them pick the team that day over a dispute with the manager. I couldn't find it so I may have been confused about another game.

Anyway, looking at my United we Stand book written by John Gibson, which I have had for years, I came across the following.

The derbies of the early 1900's were always littered with incidents and the following season, on Septemeber 18, 1909, came the horse stabbing affair at Roker Park.<yikes>

After half an hour's play, with United ahead through a Stewart goal, the excitement became too much at the Fulwell end and the crowd poured on to the pitch stopping play for quarter of an hour. Two policeman on prancing horses attempted to restore order and in the chaos that followed one of the horses was stabbed. YOU EVIL BASTARDS.
