Another stunning bunch of saves from Rob Green, who, not for the first time this season, was really at the top of his game last night. Since the arrival of McCarthy from Reading it seems Green has upped his game somewhat and it's not out of the question that he could be back in contention for an England call-up. He looks the only serious challenger to Charlie for our Player of the Year...
He has made some outstanding saves. My only concern is that he tends to dive from where he is, rather than moving his feet and his kicking is generally awful.
Agree, Greeno has kept us in many games this season. I don't know the statistics, but I reckon his saves have prevented us being rooted at the bottom of the table adrift by at least six points. I'm just happy he's performing like we know he can, although he does have one or two howlers in him. Probably deserves another go at International level if Hart drops his form.
I think a lot of this is down to coaching from Hitchcock. Which can only be good for the next couple of keepers coming through
Probably the most professional player we have deserves all the pladits for the whole season, still waiting for that clanger Col
So would I but everytime I see him gather the ball he usally rushes out to the edge of the box looking for someone who wants the ball, guess what, I don't think there is anyone in a decent postion crying out for the ball so he is forced into the long punt or a roll out to a defender. He is not the problem!
Been calling for McCarthy of late but only on the grounds of his distribution really. Greeno gets a 9 from me today, triffic saves and much improved balls out, fantastic, top player, great professional. super.
Every keeper has his weaknesses and errors. The point is the overall effect he has on our points tally. Rob Green has been fantastic and has absolutely kept us from conceding a lot more, with our shoddy defence. He also seems like a great guy.
Green's having a very good season but its no more than what you expect from your Goalkeeper really. He's playing to his full potential. He was poor the first season, much better last year (but it was at a lower level) and now he's stepped up to the plate.
I hated him after his World Cup vs US in the 2010 performance and I could scarcely believe it when he came to us...but I am a believer now. He was pretty good last year and even better now< I agree there are weaknesses, but overall, we need a keeper like him, especially as AWJM said above with our shoddy defence. Do you fancy Green for England again or does Mr Hart have that all locked up. Reports on stuff like that rarely gets over this side of the Atlantic, except at World Cup time. Or would Green be out of contention based on age the next time the WC comes around
The same Rob Green that you fickle bunch were slating on here not so long ago when to a man you pretty much all reckoned he wasn't fit clean Cesar's trainers! What a fickle fickle bunch you are....who'd be a QPR player!
This all day long - at the end of last season there was a lot of talk about Green 'not being good enough' - we're lucky to have him... a great pro and first name on the team sheet.
Have always liked Green and never slated him. Saw a great vine on twitter of him celebrating with the R's faithful shouting Greeno in the background, was a great moment.
Not everyone said that, Mr Post. Some maintained the Salad was no better than Green during that relegation season.
