GM has been a great servant to our club,I'm sure you will all echo that.
But,with him as manager we have lost our flair,our exciting play.I'm not sure the players,by watching their body language,have full respect for GM.
We need,IMO,to bring in a manager who the players respect.A manager who has done it at club and World level,as a player and manager.

With the exception of Montero we have been filling the squad with 'solid' players which is fine if we have rock solid tactics.
Other than Montero we don't have any players who can add that extra spark that excites or breaks through defence - is it our players who used to have lost their ability or is it the way we set up?

We are not a big team and we dont have the god given right to win every time we play. Everyone can beat each other in this league and its all on the day. We are having problems finding a goal scorer at the moment but we will get there. WBA capitalized on our poor finishing as they only had 35% of the ball and just 4 shots on target where 2 goals were scored. We had a whopping 65% of the ball and only 3 shots on target that were all saved......That's the way it goes sometimes in that we looked the better side but our finishing has let us down.
Read the comments. Its not results people are concerned about, its the manner in which we are getting them or not getting them.
Our 3 shots on target were a Gomis volley directly at foster. A Dyer pass back from 25 yards and Gomis again straight at the keeper. We are completely toothless and questions have to be asked as to why we kept a known troublemaker at the club after being offered upwards of 7m rather than getting in another striker.
Unfortunately true & made worse by our shots on target for the season particularly since the new year.
Games like tonight have been a regular thing this season and a few good results have obscured the standard of play, which I have been moaning about since day one.
you win some you draw some and you lose some and that's what football is all about. we beat a top 4 side away last week then we drew at home the next game and this game we lost ...Big deal as all that matters is where we are in the league and we are sitting pretty in the top half of the table.....Im happy with that in monks first season where its a learning curve not only for him but a number of his players.....What is not to be happy about for a club of our size in the top league..
In thinking about what would have happened today with other bodies in the team - Bony or Michu - then the difference, I think, is significant. I use those two because they have been genuine goal scoring threats. Even when not scoring, they were creative or threatening. I don't see a threat in Gomis. If given room he can be dangerous .... the problem is Tranmere does't play in the Prem, and nobody has CBs like Tranmere's.
So the question becomes one of perseverance, namely Monk's. How long is he going to keep beating the rented mule in the hope that it will suddenly become a stallion. When Monk says, "working on offense" (I'm paraphrasing) then I translate this into getting people to work coherently with Gomis. I'm not sure that this is possible, because like I've said we don't play Tranmere and Gomis doesn't have the strength of Bony, the mobility of Bony, the touch of Bony .... etc that is need to work effectively against Prem defenders. There's no doubt that Gomis is trying ... but his trying is starting to collapse into grasps of desperation and that's not a good sign, because he doesn't do the smart skillful little things that might just make the difference. For example, his "volley" today was him really trying, he did well to get in position for that chance, he anticipated the situation, but he rushed it and ended up with nothing, when Bony would have been more relaxed, finessed and produced a shot of better quality.
I hear a lot of exasperation about where are our goals coming from. I opined about this when we sold Bony. I still can't believe we thought that was good business. Now the chicken is coming home to roost. Yes, we have a ton of money (not as much as we should have had), but we don't have somebody on the field that can replace what we lost, not even close. And the worst part is that none of the other players have it in them to help close the gap.
We're going to have a tough final third of the season. Villa have to win 6 of their last 13 matches to get to 40 points. If they start scoring, when we do not, it's going to get ugly and our goal difference is being flushed down the toilet in the process. Goal difference is a great predictor of and very well correlated with final season position. Ours is going negative and fast. This portends nothing good - we will end up in the bottom half of the table at this rate - we just can't tell where. Yet.

Talk about overreaction and ignoring the positives of being in the top half ALL season..we beat a top 4 side on their own pitch a couple of games ago

Monk said referee Robert Madley had failed to control the match too, but said that had not been a reason for the defeat. And with Manchester United next up at the Liberty Stadium on February 21 Monk said his men had to improve or they would be punished.

Gutless second half, gomis is a lightweight, Monks not getting them any better ! 22% for that shyte display and 19% of that is for the first half where we should have stepped up a gear and ripped them apart !
Im still rattling my brain to the last game I actually enjoyed. Yes we won at Southampton, but was that really a case of us being the better team on the day? No. We were vastly outplayed for the majority of the match. The reason we won that day was down to the heroics of Ash in defence and a screamer from Shelvey.
We know we are capable of better, we have witnessed it for years. Yes we had the odd game where we played abysmal, but thats exactly what is was, the odd game. It is fast becoming the norm right now.
I couldn't understand why West Ham wanted Fat Sam out last season as he was winning them games and keeping them safe from relegation. But of course now I completely see where they were coming from. There is nothing worse than having to endure watching the team you love bore and frustrate the hell out of you.

Swan se have no tempo in our game all season, People will harp on about the points we have, but the way we play football is utter crap. We used to press high up the field now we sit and let teams come at us and we are simply not good enough defensively to do that and the number of points lost from leading games says it all. I have never seen us pass the ball so slowly, we used to have people available for a pass constantly, now we are knocking aimless long balls as there is no movement and no one is available.
We at the moment are probably one of the worst footballing sides in the league when we have better players than our performances show. This is down to one man and the way he sets our team up and if we continue with him we will not be long for the Pl. Dai is right we do not have the right to win every game, what we do have the right to is attempts at playing good football, good organisation, good work ethic, plenty of effort and under Monk we don't get any of this, We have turned in to a very poor team and there is only one way we are heading under Monk and that is not up.
If we want to be part of this new deal from sky then we seriously need to consider our position, probably not now but at the end of the season. Time for a change then or we will be off to the Championship next year.
