I think he showed great potential at Southampton, but for an 18 year old who could turn out to be a dud before his 21st birthday, I would have expected both the transfer fee and his salary (if the reported Salary figure is anything like accurate) to be half of what they were.
An 18 year old left back should never be worth nearly £30m.
Who else was even interested in him for the price to be so high? Chelsea were supposed to be but I don't remember an actual bid and since he's a fan I doubt he would have chosen Man Utd.
