Want your genuine opinions. Im not trolling or anything but do you guys think LVG should be doing better in the league? Lately youve been drawing a lot and losing games at home, is this acceptable given how much you spent to "rebuild" your "squad"?
I think so. Massively. We have the same points as last season under moyes who had a considerably inferior squad. He plays a system which doesn't work and players out of position. Certain people on here think we are making progress but our league position is only better due to how bad everyone else is. Wouldn't have minded seeing how moyes would have got on with these players .
This is exactly how I see it. Moyes also had C.L to contend with and did OK until you met a top side. I don't think winning the title was realistic this year but a credible title challenge could have been made with that squad given how others have underperformed.
Herrera.....No, I think he will come good Shaw is 50/50, though an undisputed risk for such a youngster at that price Falcao, yes..... Personally yes I think he has underachieved. He has done better than Moyes in terms of improving the squad and getting more belief in them. I said the other day they seem more resolute than they did under Moyes which can only be a good thing. BUT..... Could he, or should he, have done better with the squad he has? probably yes. And thats down to a few things. 1) ****ing with players positions, keeping Rooney in midfield whilst playing the crock twins RvP and Falcao up front, Putting Mata on the wings 2) Formations, their 3-5-2 formation is really hamstringing them big time. I know he doesnt want to risk leaving the defence exposed, but their strength is in their attacking players and he isnt playing to their strengths at all. The Lester game scared him and since then he has been over cautious imo. 3) Not buying any decent CB's. Rojo is okay but we havent seen a great deal from him. CB is their weakest area and that should have been addressed. 4) Injuries.......enough said, their defensive injury record is shocking.... Better than Moyes, but given his supposed superiority as a manager compared to Moyes, and the £150m+ he has spent.......I could see why United fans would be expecting a little more than what they have been given.
Moyes wasn't a bad manager in the first place. Unlike some in here, I have not condemned him nor called for his head. He did make some mistakes, underestimated the huge task of following SAF but he is not as bad as pointed here by some. Yes he has spent £150m a lot but then SAF underspent for many years and like I have said many times last season, we needed at least double that to even keep up with the likes of Chelsea and City. So some more to come. Yes, we should be better than we are currently. But the time to judge him will be after 38 matches.
Thats bollocks sweats (in bold). Thats like saying others only finished above us because of how **** we were last season. The league as a whole is stronger. The system(s) do work. Quite obviously. The positioning however, doesnt. And Moyes would have done even worse because A. He would never have signed these players and B. The players thought he was there only as a joke.
I think that is bollocks. Moyes may have handled certain things badly. But he had to deal with a dressing room of people at the end of their careers and had a squad that was threadbare. We have the same points pretty much as last season. Our league position IS due to other teams being ****. He has spent a fortune and we play **** football. We are playing **** football badly. Moyes made mistakes as he was too cautious in certain games but he also didn't have the options lvg has with the squad. Yet lvg sets us up to play the ****ing long ball. Every United fan I know. Match going ones too were all vocal last year in criticising moyes yet all remain in support of lvg. I'm not asking for his head yet but ffs the guy is singularly letting his ego get in the way of playing within the ethos of United. It comes to something when ****ing fat Sam gets to poke fun at another manager let alone the manager of Manchester United. Lvg is a twat. If he was doing this to barca or any other top club he'd be sacked. Yet we are blindly supporting him turning us into West Ham Playing football worthy of a 1970's 2nd division team.
He is under achieving. He should be doing better with ths squad he has but I think he's not sure what he's doing. He keeps changing tactics instead of sticking to one that works. Lvg says he wants possession football, but then every game he leaves out Herrera who is the best short passer in our midfield. I think one of Herrera or Mata (if not both) should start every of our games if we want to keep the passing game going.
To answer the OP. Yes and no. Yes he is failing because we have spent £150million and he hs been unable to get the system just right. He has played the right formation enough times but its getting players in the right spot that he hasnt yet grasped. In my opinion we are 6-8 points below where we should really be. Those 6-8 points were lost in the first few games. We didnt have any new players at the time (not bought or injured) and LvG had only had 3 weeks with the club. Take away those first 5 games and we sit 3rd, just behind City and Chelsea. Take away the first 10 and we are top, comfortably. So this shows improvement. The season started a month too early for us this season and with all the change it was never going to be a walk in the park. So in a way hes not underachieved. If anything hes overachieving. Regardless, there is room to improve more. Both the play and the points tally.
My god you are one giant bell end!! Sorry but you are.... So he is overachieving, if you get to pick and choose what games count and what ones don't. Solid ****ing logic!!
Its called form you moron. It also shows the progress we have made since the opening days where we couldn't buy a win and picked up 13 points from 10 games. Do you know anything about football or are you going to carry on ranting on every board about how your period has hit and its a ****ing heavy one?
The only thing heavy is the giant floppy cock parked in the middle of your forehead. How in the hell do you know LvG would have won those games if you'd had Di Maria, Failcao and fatty bon Batty? So they are automatic wins yeh? I have said many times, LvG has done better than Moyes, but to say that having you scraping for 4th, playing long ball football with a 3-5-2 formation and having your best players either out of position (Mata, Rooney) or on the bench (Herrera), is overachieving after a £150m spend? You are on another ****ing planet to everyone else mate, you really are.....
Spot on Add one more thing to number 2) I think that formation is bcos the pace of the prem has genuinely surprised him and he doesn't have the balls to deal with it. I can forgive most things but cowardice isn't one. That Lester game **** the hell out of him.
That is true, if you look at the overall points from last season then only Chelsea, Southampton and United are doing better out of the top 7 after 24 games. the rest are doing worse Arsenal 10 points worse Pool 8 points worse City 4 points worse Spurs 1 point worse (only just) So, have all these teams dropped or have the rest of the league got better to take points off them?
Don't think it matters mate, whichever way you look at it we're underachieving. I believe our squad is probably the 3rd best in the league and it's as simple as that for me. The results against West Brom, Aston Villa, Sunderland, Burnley were completely unacceptable.
