Nigel has done an outstanding job for us so far with signings and all that.
But if you was in his shoes, who would you attempt to sign? and why, maybe Nigel might see this and take note;)

Strangely enough, quite intelligent (sometimes in evidence) but still a big prick.

No, we can't. And anyone who thinks they can is a deluded moron who spends too much time playing Football Manager.

Well thats killed the thread!! Your not supposed to take it literally. All NP needs to do is become more attack minded and go for it more in games. Unfortunately his signings have reflected his safety first approach.
If Ayala does sign i can see him playing Chester in front of Hobbs and Ayala, with Mckenna, Harper and Evans. Leaving little Matty up front on his own and Koren out wide.

    Rosenior Ayala Hobbs Dawson
    Chester
    Harper Mckenna Evans
    Koren
    Fryatt.

With Barmby coming on to score the equaliser on 70 mins.
Away he will probaly go more defensive.

I'm all for speculating and playing fantasy manager but my answer to the question is right. None of us have any idea how much work is involved. Not to mention that we couldn't possible earn the respect of highly paid footballers enough for them to give a **** what our opinion is!

I don't think you could pick one team, you've got to play the opposition. One thing is for certain, we've got lots of options now. We can play 4231 with Harper and McKenna in front of the back four. We can play a 442 with Simpson or Adebola up with Fryatt. We can play a 433, defensive or attacking with any 3 of Fryatt, Adebola, Simpson, McLean, Barmby, Stewart and Koren.

Our midfield options at the moment are absolutely ridiculous. We definitely need a wide player though, on loan or permanent. I'd also like to see us find a creative central midfielder but I think that would require Bullard and/or Olofinjana to sod off first.

The only formation we realistically couldn't play is 532 and signing Ayala would solve that.

But to be honest, I really didnt like seeing chester in the midfield, he looked uncomfortable there, and he's not great with the ball at his feet, as seen when he was trying to push on when at right back. But that surely just shows he's and out and out center half?

Thanks for that. Luke Varney(ex.Derby/Blackpool 2010/11) confirmed as signed for Pompey to replace Nugent.

I have a feeling that this time around NP will get more adventourous especially at home. Maybe 3 - 5 - 2 at last.
