I thought that Taarabt substitute very strange. I can only presume he ran out of puff because otherwise he'd have been the last one I'd have taken off today.

(Bearing in mind I only had a stream which is incomparable to being there)

You're right. The crowd booed when Taarabt was taken off. Maybe he just wasn't fit enough (match fit).
At least with Taarabt on the pitch, we have a chance of some creativity.

Traore should have been taken off first, preferably after the first 5 minutes!!

Why was Traore picked? Were Shaun Phillips and Hoilett injured? I don't think they were on the bench.

Even if they were he could have tried Matt Phillips wide left and Vargas or Isla on the right. Surely anything is better than Traore?

Perhaps Ramsay just said "every player in correct position no matter what". There is some logic to that I guess.

Apart from the defence where we played 4 centre backs?
I can see why Phillips and Traore were played in the wide positions. Unfortunately, Phillips only gets 1 cross in about 6 right and Traore must surely never, ever start again?

Rusty lads expected Taarabt looked good enough and a few good touches made him not look out of place ... Flow of team 1st half just not there against a very clever saints team who move it quickly
Hard to swallow but we without doubt won the last 30 mins and has to go for three points
We have very good players no worries we matched a very good team with a brilliant defence

Traore has a few very bad touches but he kept the excellent Clyne at bay well the best of it
Well done Traore

I wish people wouldn't just pick out players at QPR you are infected lads

Let it flow the idiot has gone

I liked the fact that the saints fans has songs and chants for their players we haven't really

We can bounce without doubt but today we had just four full crowd chants ... I say again we are infected time to get well again

Haven't read the whole thread but it wasn't a great game today, Saints weren't up to much, neither team really threatened until the inevitable. Zarate looked lively, Adel always interesting, Barton (gulp) played well, Dunne his usual and Hill ok under a lot of pressure. Phillips at least got a couple of crosses in. On the downside Ned is not good enough, Caulker no discipline, Austin offered no threat and Traore completely pointless. But Fer took the biscuit for me, whenever he got the ball turned 360 degrees and then lost it. Very few crisp, first time passes from anybody.

In Adel, Vargas, Zarate and Isla at least we have some clever players. We tried to pass it rather than lump it today (hooray) if we want to do this they all have to play. I'd like to give Ramsey a few weeks at least to get some more modern thinking going on, can't really see the point of getting someone in to 'keep us up' when I'm afraid it ain't gonna happen. WE were (I think) at least trying to play a better game today.

DT, I know you are a Henry fan, but would you concede that maybe the reason that Barton was better today was that he wasn't saddled with all of the passing responsibilities?

I am a better footballer than Traore.

There's still one square peg in a round hole. Onuoha never a right back, painfull to watch at times, big drop in quality from Isla. Isla is a wing back but much more a right back than Onuoha.
I think Ned is better at RB if anything. He did ok today both positions, a solid defender and quick enough. The rest of his game like the rest of our defence is not PL quality.

How hard have Taarabt & Zarate trained this week?

Losing three stones & recovering fitness in four days. Remarkable!

We're just not good enough. I liked the look of Karate-Zarate who looked like he wanted to make something happen every time he had the ball. But it's the midfield that is so poor for me. You have to have a midfield that can keep the ball and control the tempo of the game, slowing things down or speeding things up where necessary. Our midfield lacks decent ball control, support for each other, awareness, cohesion and the ability to make that telling pass. Even on the deck the ball moves so quickly through the midfield it is as though every attempt on goal is a kick-and-rush. From that it is no wonder that Austin, for example, has little support once he's in possession because the ball is always coming up too quickly for the midfield in particular to push up as a unit; all you can hope for is a knock-down or a defensive error that somebody gets on the end of.

We bang on about how poor we are in defence, which is true. But, again, it is because the midfield isn't doing its job, and possession is often and easily surrendered in the opposition's half, that the defence is put under so much pressure. Even the best defences will crack more often if the midfield in front of them is this poor.
That was because we only had 2 in CM , playing 2 wide men like we did today gives that risk. I think 1 wide man is enough. Krancjar or Henry would have been better selections than Traore today.

No, you get real. You must have fallen asleep during that game!
Traore was dreadful. My lad said after the game that he couldn't think of one single positive thing to say about Traore's performance. He was lacklustre and he certainly didn't track Clyne very well at all.
When Taarabt was taken off ahead of Traore, the loft broke out in boos. Everyone around me was moaning about Traore and Fer, but mostly Traore.
You're talking utter garbage.
Also, if you're so upset by the home support, why don't you come up the home end and try to join in?

Don't ****ing lecture me on getting real when you talk such utter bollocks!

BArton did very well
Agree with SB when we had a flood of creativity on the park second half we were too good for the saints albeit a dull neutral game .... We matched their quick and clever pSsing but that is because they have been doing it all season with confidence

I say again no point in slagging what is just green shoots

Highlight for me personally was Tasrabts clever little pass first half in pen area ... You could see after that the saints players knew he is tricky

That grows we have a clever team
If it clicks we could do well

Traore on the ball yes poor but that is only half the game off it he did well imo

Fer flooded with our other creativity players looked normal because he is

Barton however did Henry s job really well

We made very few chances
And it looked confusing but at least it wasn't Harold's very predictable crap

Saints lads are a very solid side and we nearly matched them with a new side there must be credit there somewhere

I agree Traore did ok. But I think we would have had more control of the game with just 1 wide man (Phillips) and another in central mid, Henry today, with both Fer and Adel playing.

I must admit to being slightly confused when reading all the overly-negative comments on here after the match (especially from Mr Apocalypse now.....Sooperhoop).

I thought we played well today. Good effort from the lads, good skill and matched a very decent side. We just lacked that bit of quality up top when it mattered. Put in the same level of performance on Tuesday night and I wouldn't be surprised if we won.
