He could be on about that thread. Loveitupthebush if it is the music thread then I'm sorry if it annoys you mate. It seems very popular with quite a few forum members, this is why it keeps bumping.

One of the many things I like about this QPR forum is not having too many sticky threads.
OK so I started the music thread. I did this during the summer break to give us a non meltdown OT thread to keep some of us going until the start of the new season. If other forum members stopped bumping the music thread then so will I and let it die out. With 4000+ reply's and 42k+ plus views for a thread that's only a few months old I can't see this happening too soon.
Even I have been surprised how strong that threads still going tbh.
It gives some of us somewhere to escape the constant Adel threads and chill out,lol.
Each to their own I guess!

Okay, I'll bite. Personally I find the 'relentless off topic' threads really boring. Whether it's the word association thread, the joke thread , the music one or the latest incarnation that is the three word one I would damn them all to hell. I acknowledge that I've posted in all of these in good faith initially but in the main have failed to do so of late. I didn't think that they would ever last that long. There is nothing more so soul destroying that when you log onto our board and usually see any two of the above threads at the head of our forum.
Roller and I often discussed about closing them down, but didn't want to do so as being labelled as QPR Nazi's. The board seems to get upset if we act without their consent.
Personally I'd rather this be a QPR forum than a word, music or story one. However, I can appreciate the odd O-T thread that can be rather enlightening which does seem to give our board the un peu énervé which others don't. I feel that our posters will let us know how they feel about this. Some of the OT posts are fine as long as they exhaust themselves within a fortnight. But if they drag on for too long they should be snuffed out.

To a degree, I share your view. The word ones lose their edge for me aftera while. I like the joke thread and sadly the music thread causes my phone to crash so I don't participate too much.
Looking at it, there's 4 OT threads on the first page. One is football related and another is this one. That puts it about 80-90% QPR related which seems a fair balance IMO.
The ones I don't indulge in are clearly labelled so don't really have a problem avoiding them.
If we ever got to the stage, in season, of having, say, 8 or more non football threads it might be worth putting a double vote on. Do you think there are too many and which ones should be culled (if the first gives a majority yes vote) to bring it down to below, say 5? That way it's not put down to over-nodding whatever the outcome.
Just my thoughts but happy to let popular threads remain as it stands.

The gauge for me is that none of our senior posters posts on these threads. Swords, sb_73, Beth, You, Uber, Sooper, Eamon Tramore, Jeff, Dens, Kentgaz, Goldhawk, Iwasanother, Sku, TBGWTDT, Vale Hoops, Watford, Elnino, RTID, Tim, Norway, Nuts, Ciariau, CorkeR, etc plus a 100 other posters ( My apologies if I've left anyone out) do not post on these threads. Why not? It's because they are boring and have no place on here.
Mr 9's, I fully respect what you say and also respect this is a football forum to talk about and debate our beloved QPR.
I was having a think about this and often wondered if other members felt the same and I respect that. Again the music thread was started by me during the summer break while we were quite. Again I'v been surprised how popular it's been.
There is now a new section on this new not606 for music. I will cut you a deal Mr 9's, I will start a music thread over there and stop bumping the QPR one at the weekend if that's ok.
I will let the other regular posters on that thread know that I'm moving over their. You can then lock it if you want.
If the music thread has annoyed any other members then I apologize to you all!

there would have been some awfully quiet off season /international weeks/cup weekends when nothing QPR related was going on without the off topic stuff
As a regular poster on the music thread (along with one of our Mods as well) I find it an excellent release from the endless repetitive threads about Adel etc. How often do we have two or more threads on that boring topic running before they mercifully get merged?
The music thread has attracted many different posters over it's time and is a good 'sounding board' for an exchange of musical tastes which give many on here a chance to latch on to music they may not have heard before and like. It's actually providing a service for it's posters.
Even the other threads can provide light relief from some of the gossipy threads which are often re-hashed rubbish.
Off topics are clearly labelled and make our diverse board a much better board than others on here and their popularity keeps them on the front page. That should be the criteria by which they sink or swim...

Speaking a little out of line...I have no problem with music, joke, etc... do not go there often, so do not really care.
But
It brings people to our board...as do milkshakes ( little music joke there!)
Secondly... it drastically increase our number of posts....which apparently is good ( an ex mod told me that was important, but I never asked why...wish I had)

I love Qpr and love talking about them but as posters above have said, sometimes discussing the same thing over and over ( ie, bloody Adel Tarbarratt lol ) makes me avoid the site.
So it was/is I hope just a pleasant diversion.
As posters have also said, clearly defined threads are preposterously easy to ignore if they do not interest you.
I must also add here though that even though 'The 3 words at a time' thread was instigated for a bit of fun to change the scenery so to speak, it is still quite amazing how many times Mr Taraabt and little Swp seem to pop up in the story!
