I was looking at some of the doubts about Andreu on the transfer thread and thinking that Alex Neil is going to know exactly what he has bought. No amount of scouting could give him the same certainty.

It left me wondering about other times when players have followed managers here. Lambert brought Tierney and Fox from Colchester. Hughton bought Redmond from Birmingham, and had managed Bassong previously. John Bond brought son Kevin with him from Bournemouth. All good purchases I would suggest. Beyond that I'm struggling but presumably there must be many more? Any Fellaini's amongst them?

I wish Bruce Rioch had brought Dennis Bergkamp with him!

Bond brought most of the Bournemouth team with him. Boyer, Mac, Powell, Ryan to name four.

Good spot, I'd forgotten Lambert brought him to the club.

I'm guessing we didn't get too many Christmas cards from Bournemouth that year. They wound up getting relegated

You beat me to it! To me Bond (John) was one of our very best managers. The Boyer / MacDougall partnership was one of our best ever IMO and Tony Powell was a wonderfully cultured player. Not sure that John Ryan was quite in the same class but I do not want to nit-pick.

I've just read that MacDougall and Boyer were partners at four different clubs. It seems they went everywhere together.

After the Villa/Wes thing, I'd love to see how this place would react if a manager took 5 players with him <yikes>

As a youngster in the late 70's my dad convinced me the AFC in AFC Bournemouth stood for Another Future Canary.
