Seems like lots of momentum gathering for stories about Jermaine Defoe heading for the SOL? Could it be true?

I have reservations about the lad if he cant get his head sorted out but if he could regain that Spurs form of 2 years ago, we would certainly have Judas replacement, as both players have very similar records and are only a year apart in age.

432 games / 178 goals Average: 2.42 (Defoe)

378 games / 164 goals Average: 2.30 (Judas)

Mixed feelings for me yes but it really would be a marquee signing that's for sure?

I'd be a bit pissed if you got him, I'd like him at Newcastle. Never been a massive fan of his but there's no doubt he'll improve most prem first teams if he gets decent service.

No mixed feelings for me, he wont fit in, especially as one of the last couple of bits of the jigsaw, a backward move IMO, he would get picked every week, and my fear is he aint got it, but will still get picked every week, Back to doom and gloom, sorry but unless Brucie has learned some tactics while on holiday, I fear he will keep playing players to justify the purchase, only one of the reasons I dont enjoy the thought of Defoe at Sunderland.

Defoe probably needs a fresh start just like Judas and he will have a point to prove just like Judas and players with points to proove are the types you want.

Only sticking point would be the Transfer fee, £7/8 million sounds reasonable but we all know about delaing with Spurs & Arry!

Even though i think your a great bloke and have a lot of good posts i find i disagree with a lot of what you say infact your exactly like a mate of mine and i ask him why he bothers going.
You don't like Bruce fair enough but i get the feeling if messi signed you would still have something to complain about.
Defoe of old would be a good signing for me but not for big money.
Sorry mate i respect your opinion
I say 3-5 years of Bruce and this being a big season for him i already see progress from the the likes Murphy Healey and co.

Would be a great signing, not much difference in his style of play than bent.
Only real difference is that he also scores some cracking goals outside of the box.
Also he is a proven premiership goal scorer.
So fxxk if he is not wired up right neither was Bent.
6-7 mllion would be a decent fee.

Good goals scoring record which is what you want from a striker obviously. I would have similar concerns to those already mentioned about how he would fit into the side.

I think what we have to ask is would he improve the squad and the answer is definitely yes to that.

As has been mentioned above Bil I disagree with a lot of your posts (and agree with a few) - but I actually DO agree WHOLEHERTEDLY on this one - I don't like Defoe - he scored about 4 goals last season and would probably cost in excess of £10m - yeah he had injuries but he still had a terrible goalscoring record (and he's a nasty piece of work as well) - If he pulls on the Sunderland shirt I will fully back the lad but I don't really want him at the club
