Since Holt left we seem to have wasted over £12m on replacement number 9s with Ricky Van Wolfswinkel & Lafferty bagging just 1 goal each and both being shipped out on loan to overseas teams. Do you think either will return? I would love Wolfswinkel to come back and prove his doubters wrong but I can't see it , more likely that he will stay in France. Strikers usually command inflated prices as they are the supplier of the all important goals so I hope we scour the continent and lower leagues to find our next number 9. I have no Idea who I would like to see join us does anyone have any thoughts as to who we could afford and who would fit into Alex's style of play?. Yakubo could have been good and it will be interesting to see how he gets on at Reading even Heskey has returned for Bolton scoring already . C Mackail Smith or Jordan Rhodes ?
I think Lafferty will be back. I know it can easily be dismissed as just talk, but: http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/s...that-norwich-return-is-his-goal-30962641.html It also seems (to my surprise) that he doesn't feel he's been played in his best position this season. So I think fair enough. I could see him being very useful in the Prem if we get promoted and tailor the system to him. Yakubu - not for me Rhodes - not for me either CMS - maybe but (correct me if I'm wrong) his form seems very up and down
To be fair to lafferty he has not been used as a number 9 so can see why he got only 1 IMO RVW was one of them guys the 'fans' like to get on his back. I would LOVE to see him back not gonna happen though thanks to these fans
How about Heskey? Strange that Forest were doing so well but now have resorted to signing Becchio the player that none of the 3 managers at C R much fancied. He was doing ok at Rotherham before he was injured , very bad and apparently expensive signing that was never given a chance.
Not sure I agree with that. I think the fans were pretty patient with RVW. Even now, I sense a lot of fans would like to see it all come good for him at Norwich. I think he was kind of lucky that Hughton bore the brunt of fan's anger last year. Maybe we can't bear to admit that our highest ever expectations were so badly misplaced. Compare it with Iwan Roberts who I seem to recall suffered much worse abuse in his first season with us despite scoring many more goals at a fraction of the cost.
I think we are ok for now Jerome has been very good Hooper has finally got a few and Grabban although most on here hate will no doubt get 10 to 20 goals .. We appear to be trying 1 up top so 3 should be enough barring injuries.
That didn't take long to turn this into every other obsession thread about Ipswich. We just can't help having an unhealthy fixation with the mighty blues.
I'd make Hooper #9 next season, and if he has an injury free one I honestly think he can score a lot of goals for us, either in this division or the PL. If we go up I see no reason, as long as he has a full pre-season and injury free season, why he can't emulate what Charlie Austin, Rickie Lambert or Danny Ings have done in the top flight.
