So we may or may not have had another bid rejected by Bristol for Maynard.

So if we don't get him, who would you get? (He has to be available and realistic, and don't say the Yak, that deal is almost definitely off!)

I ask because a lot of people (mainly on Foxestalk <whistle> ) have been saying there's plenty of other options who are as good for cheaper. So...what do people have in mind? Who can we see Sven going after? Do we need someone who has a decent goalscoring record or a someone who offers a bit more than just goals?

Or do some people think that we don't need a proven quality striker at all? I know some people, using last seasons promoted sides as an example, who would be confident with someone like Nugent leading the line for example, as opposed to a more 'wanted' player.

Thoughts?

Goals from next season ?
Can see Nugent getting 20 in this team
Gally and King 10 a piece.
Another 10 from midfield/up front
Maybe 15 from defence and the rest of midfield.
Not enough ! We need another goal scorer who is going to be pushing 20 for us.
Can Vassell and Waghorn come good this season ? Gamble !
We need that extra man upfront. Maynard IS the man for me, but I am sure Sven has alternatives, but who they are, not the foggiest. Dont think he would go down divisions for a striker, but abroad is a possibility. Am not panicing, just waiting patiently.

I think we are making offers and wanting them to get rejected. As if Maynard knows our interest is genuine and we really want him and Bristol are blocking that. He may hand in a transfer request driving his value down. So we dont have to pay that 4-5 M quoted and could probaly get him for around 3-3.5M

Just a thought

I think it will have to be abroad or a young promising loan player from the prem. Although I can't think of anyone but I'm sure Sven will have some names in his book.

I'll jizz off IF we do get Maynard. But... Vassell down the middle with Nugent, backed up with Martyn "chomping at the bit" Waghorn will do. Posssibly Kermit if he stays can put in some guest appearances. I'm open to giving him a chance. He fooked up a (important) penalty once. I'm over it!

He also had one of the worst goals/appearances ratios ever!

Darius Vassell with Martyn Waghorn as sub!

Vassell playing down the middle, imo, would give him at least 15 goals, at least!

Couple that with roughly 15 from nugent 10 from gally and king and a possible 15-20 from other players totals about 70 goals.

That'll be enough <ok>

Oh and to add to the thread:

Hmmm...i think a Mr Tevez recently handed in a transfer request :D
We would haveto play our home games in Spain, Italy or Argentina <laugh>

I think a front 5 of Nugent, Maynard, Waghorn, Vassell and Howard is more then good enough. If we get injuries we can just get a loan in
