Fulham will fancy their chances of causing an upset when they host Sunderland in the replay of their FA Cup fourth-round tie on Tuesday.

The Cottagers earned a 0-0 draw at the Stadium of Light to set up a rematch at Craven Cottage, where they are unbeaten so far in 2015.

But Gus Poyet’s men will be buoyed by their victory against Burnley on Saturday, which was their first home win in four months.

Fulham Team News
Scott Parker returned for the London side in the defeat to Blackburn at the weekend. The former Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder missed the trip to Wearside with an ankle knock but is set to feature in the replay.

Sunderland Team News
Jermain Defoe scored his first goal for the club in the 2-0 win over the Clarets and is likely to feature for the Black Cats, who are still without Lee Cattermole thanks to a succession of injuries.

Jack Rodwell is available for selection again after serving a one-match suspension for picking up two yellow cards in the first game against Fulham.

Be typical Sunderland to lose and take the shine off a massive win against Burnley.

Id play a much changed side. The two league games in quick succession are much more important

Fulham (Tuesday)
Swansea (Saturday)
QPR (Tuesday)

Two positive results in the league could see us pull clear of the bottom 3
 
Not wanting to get ahead of things but beat Fulham and Bradford and we could be looking at a home Quarter Final tie with a trip to Wembley for the winners….it's not impossible <confused>

I'm with you on this! Not bothered about the cup to be honest and 4 to 6 points in the next 2 games would build up some momentum in the league.

Well I'm with you. I think we'll stay up, why shouldn't we be going all out to win silverware? What's the point otherwise? I've never seen us lift a trophy, but I know we've got as much right as everyone else to win one but it won't happen if we don't try. We've got near fit squad, strong teams for both competitions please.
 
Striker confident ahead of cup clash.

Sunderland will head into Tuesday’s FA Cup tie against Fulham with plenty of confidence, according to Jermain Defoe.

The forward opened his Sunderland account during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Burnley, showcasing his predatory instincts with a close-range finish to double the Black Cats’ lead.

And after returning to winning ways in the Barclays Premier League the England international is hungry for more.

“Tuesday’s game is a massive one especially if you look at who we can get after should we progress, because you never know what can happen especially in the FA Cup.

“I’m looking forward to it and it will be a good game, but it is massive to be heading into it on the back of a win because everyone will be full of confidence.”

He added: “Hopefully we can go there and play because if we do we will create chances and I believe we are good enough to win the game.”

Poyet previews FA Cup replay.

Sunderland must build on their 2-0 win over Burnley in the Barclays Premier League, according to head coach Gus Poyet.

The Black Cats returned to winning ways in style with a dominant victory over the Clarets but there is little time to dwell with an FA Cup replay at Craven Cottage looming.

The initial fourth-round clash ended goalless with Jermain Defoe forcing a number of saves and Hugo Rodallega hitting the post, as the Black Cats battled to force a replay following Jack Rodwell’s red card.

Speaking to safc.com Poyet explained that confidence will be key, as he shared his thoughts ahead of Tuesday's cup clash.

“Confidence is a word that people use a lot and you cannot get better confidence than you can from winning football matches.

“We need to go to Craven Cottage and perform because that is the next challenge and the next step.”

He added: “We cannot think that we have accomplished something important because we need to keep improving, whilst winning plenty of games in the next few weeks."

How good would it be to spoil Stevie G's birthday?!

FWIW - I love the cups - last season's cup run was unforgettable and I would love to see it happen again - BUT the league is much more important. Poyet, I think,. Has said that it's a few weeks too early for Defoe so he'd be rested I think. Giachherini and Alvarez starting would be great to "see" but not sure whether it'll happen!

I highlight the "see" as I would like a link if anyone finds one - think they'll be scarce though!
