I remember a lot of supporters on here
Ridiculing and laughing at Leeds,
Their fans, who with such arrogance would just sneer

That was a few years ago, I recall
When they were in the Championship,
They were convinced they would soon halt their fall
Regarding it just as a blip

Just where is that once proud club now today
Their sense of entitlement, gone,
Be careful that we don´t end just the same way
Leeds mk 2, several years on

Reputation tarnished, club torn apart
With bosses who barely take charge,
Before they find themselves in ´Exchange and Mart´
As fan pressure once more looms large

Past glories count for nothing in this game
Surely by now, that we all know,
The here and now matters, not previous fame
If we want to help them make a show

They need us just as much as we need them
Especially with a management team,
Who´re new in this league and working hard to stem

Wise words RBF but I fear for many, they will fall on stoney ground! I suppose it's all the money in the Premier league that has bred this unwholesome section of "fans!" I wish they would learn that they will NEVER get their way because all they are doing is rocking an already wild boat!

I have to confess, I still look back on the 80's when we were very much a yo-yo club. Going down and bouncing back 1st time, every time. That is why I expect the same today, nothing to do with the PL or the money, but because it was habit at the time.

I may get slaughtered for saying this, but I would rather we spent another year in the championship, to give AN and FM time to rebuild the team, by selling/letting go some of our senior players and signing/promoting some younger players who have the hunger and desire to take the club forward!!! <donstinhatemoticon>

This year has to be our best chance JR, but it certainly wouldn´t worry me either, if promotion didn´t happen this year, but we do need to be careful not to be so dissatisfíed that we push the club to yet another managerial change almost before they´ve had time to settle in. There was certainly a marked improvement between Brentford and Birmingham after only a week´s work from Neil, and now with McAvoy here, things ought to get even better. I´m still optimistic that this has the makings of a good, long term partnership.

The fans do indeed need to give the new managerial pairing time to work with the players and at least Howson will be available for selection against Blackpool, so at least we should have a decent midfield and get a result.

I have just posted on another thread something which is pertinent to this discussion and I am very much in the 'let's stay put camp' - at least for this season. In reality what could we hope to achieve from promotion? This current squad has proven vulnerable to modest opposition in the Championship and would need to beat much better sides to have any hope of survival higher up the food chain. I just don't see it and would rather build a new look squad based on the Youth Cup winners mingled with the best 6 or so older professionals giving a blend of youth and experience but with the club and the fans in their hearts. I think that the city itself would be rather more proud of the club and a lot more forgiving if things did not always go so well, at least for a while anyway.
