Perhaps "ridiculous" is a bit unkind, but you are certainly over-reacting, the man had 3 games to see our faults, on the 4th game he's stopped the leaking defence and giving away soft penalties! Give him a chance! <ok>

This is the sort of **** I was talking about earlier!! <steam>

Of course you were being ridiculous, ruling out our chances of making up just THREE points over the course of the next three months!

Keep drawing away games to tough sides like today and winning the home games - starting next week - and we'll have more than an excellent chance of making play-offs.
I still have confidence we can make the top two, absolutely, and for anyone to write our season off this early, with a new gaffer still finding his feet is actually more than ridiculous if you ask me <ok>

I didn't rule out our chances, I merely said I'm starting to lose hope and I made no comment as to whether or not Neil was the man to take us back to the premiership.

I don't see todays team selection as a step forward, if anything the opposite, nor do I see that the result today should give any grounds to give us confidence that we can make a top 2 spot. We are 10 points off a top 2 spot and 7 points off 4th place, although in truth it's only the top 2 places that count as 4th to 6th is only a play off place. The stats, 65% possession, 4 shots on target, are far from reasuring and having looked at Birmingham's results against the teams above us it does not suggest that I'm being overly negative.

    Birmingham 0 Derby 4
    Birmingham 2 Watford 1
    Birmingham 0 Bournemouth 8
    Brentford 1 Birmingham 1
    Birmingham 2 Ipswich 2
    Middlesborough 2 Birmingham 0
    Wolves 0 Birmingham 0

With the exception of Wolves every other team has at least scored against them. So I'm not convinced that consuling ourselves that they are a tough side is necessarily true.

So to put our current position in context the last time we were in 8th prior to the Brentford result was the 6th of December at which point we were 7 points off 2nd place. Far from making up ground we appear to be losing it.

I thought when Neil first became manager that the squad didn't need a major overhall and I was still expecting us to reach the play offs, I'm starting to think we are going to need a bigger clear out in the summer than I thought. Looking at todays selection with the exception of Bassong being involved it could have been a Adams team and if Birmingham had got a lucky break and scored late in the second half many people on here would be consuling themselves by saying that we had the best squad in the division and how unlucky we had been.

The door was wide open for you today with all the other results going your way yet you fooked it up! We have been on a bad run yet remain 7 points ahead of you, Watford lost and Wolves could only draw yet you couldn't take advantage which for the club with the best squad in the league must be slightly worrying!

"Ipswich Town lost ground on the Championship's top two as they were held by struggling Wigan in an uninspiring goalless draw."
Looks like your fook up was greater than ours , especially bearing in mind we made up 1 point on the top 6. But I do agree with you that you have been on a bad run and long may it continue. As Mick pointed out the other day, most teams up their game when they play the mighty Ipswich, and it would appear that struggling Wigan are no exception !!

We may have got a point near 6th today, but we've lost 2 since the New Year.

You list all Birmingham's bad results, but overlook the fact they were 23rd towards the end of November and have improved greatly. Guess that doesn't come into your thinking.

I haven't been selective in my listing I've merely listed the results of every game they've played this season against teams above us.

I accept they've improved since November and had some good results against teams below us i.e beat Reading 6-1 & Wigan 3-1 although they struggled to beat Blyth Spartens 3-2 on the 3/1.

Truth is they were poor today and we still didn't win.

With the exception of Wolves every team above us has scored against them and we couldn't, even when they weren't playing well.

Ah there it is, the classic "but if only...." negative twaddle that really can't be argued with, ever <doh> You even used the word "lucky", which suggest they wouldn't have deserved it so what the hell you're on about I really don't know.

If the dog hadn't stopped to **** he would have caught the rabbit, if my auntie had bollocks she'd be my uncle, and if you'd take those negative bloody blinkers off and stop trawling for any angle you can come from to make our situation look worse than it actually is you might just realise what unqualified bilge you're talking..

    Dear me.

Munky I give up. I'm clearly not able to communicate effectively with someone with your level of intelect.

It's nothing to do with intellect, it's about looking at the whole scenario objectively without plastering it all with negative, glass half-empty spin, which is what (in my opinion at least) you appear to be doing for some reason.

But thanks for accepting that you don't seem to be communicating effectively with me in this particular debate, appreciate it <ok>

I thought it was a forum for discussing your thoughts & opinions on ncfc?

I don't agree with the negatives but it's not like he was at the game booing (presumably).

Think we could probably all do with being a bit more tolerant of each other and opinions. We are entitled to them after all.

PS let's not go back down the spelling and grammar police route again as a way of belittling posters

I have to say that I was also disappointed with the result given that we dominated possession and only managed 4 shots on target. Not a bad performance by any means and we did pick up a point on both Watford and Brentford, but they were playing top teams. The defence was much better and Bassong and Martin both played well, but Birmingham didn't offer much threat. I can understand not playing Jerome if he had a hamstring problem, and I thought we might have made the attacking substitutions sooner, but other wise a reasonable performance away from home.

A top 2 place has gone now, IMO, but we are still in with a chance of the play-offs if we can get a run going against Blackpool next week. The two away games after that will be the test though.

The OP was complaining before we even kicked off , yes the result was dissapointing but there is plenty of points left to go for so 3 off the play offs is obviously not that much.
I was thrilled our defence got a clean sheet but I hoped Hooper would get more than 3 mins at the end so on balance a point away from home is acceptable IMHO.

That snyde intellect dig was trajick <whistle>

Doesn't matter really if he was tho, it's still an opinion and it's what this place is for innit ;-)

Don't worry we're gonna win every match for the rest of the season now and finish top - you heard it here first (well second probably sure Carrabuh will have said that at some point already)

    lol

If it had been any other word than intellect that had been spelt wrong I wouldn't have highlighted it, it just seemed too ironic to let slip.

Apologies if that went over some of your heads and narked you, however as it has just been pointed out it is a public forum and on that basis I reserve the right to post whatever I like - particularly when I feel as strongly as I did yesterday that people are writing absolute guff without any real substance and based upon factual inaccuracies.

If you look at my other post you'll see I'm far from always negative and up until yesterday's team selection I was always of the view that we would make the play off's at least. I never jumped on the previous Houghton out / Adams out bandwagen and its interesting that because of my comments it was assumed, incorrectly, that I wasn't willing to give Neil a chance. I was and am happy with Neils appointment and I think long term he'll be good for the club. All I said was I was starting to give up hope of us finishing in the top six. Yes I said it before the game started on the baises of the team selection, however I've got to say the performance and the result have not increased my confidence. My comments were certainly no more premature than comments at the start of the season about us winning this division with 100 points or goals.

So the positves from yesterdays game are we dominated possession, got a point, didnt concede and gained a point on 6th. The negatvies are Birmingham were poor, we didn't score despite dominating, we didn't get 3 points, we are still 8th and our defence was better than last week against a poorer team who we really should be beating if we're going to finish top 2.

What the team selection and Neils comments after the game say to me is that we are not as good as many on here seem to think we are. I think the issues with the team run a bit deeper than the manager be it Neil or Adams. As a result I am starting to change my previously helds views that we have the best squad in the division and that the issues with the team could be sorted out without wholesale changes. I suspect whatever happens there will be significant changes in the Summer. Unlike some others on this forum I am capable of original thought and changing my opinions.

I'm really sorry I missed out one of the 2 l's in intellect and clearly this means my views are of no value. I don't post very often as I tend to be of the view that the purpose of posting is to express my views and spark informed debate. I try to avoid personal attacks on others and juvenile comments like 'Have you seen Xplayer play' prefering to support my comments with facts and informed opinion, unlike some people on here who should maybe think their comments through before pressing the enter button.
