Definitely not! It takes 30 minutes more to get to Melton Mowbray from Watford as opposed to Sheffield. Admittedly he currently has to drive from Preston to get his "pie-fix", but moving to Sheffield would slash his travelling time by 40% (as opposed to 20% should he be travelling from Watford). That is a huge difference and possibly too much to refuse. Just imagine the fuel saving!! It beggars belief.
Nope, not for me. I know beggars can't be choosers but I really would hope that, even with our very limited budget, we could do better than this.
Perhaps we could make room for Collins John on the bench? Only £20k per week; I'm sure we could break the wage structure for a player of that calibre...
Who indeed could forget him?!! He scored 5 goals in 29 starts and 4 subs - and one of those was in the Full Members Cup!!!! I was there when our Trev got his only League goal at Hillsborough in September 87 in a 3-2 victory. I stood with my 9 year old son in the Leppings Lane end amidst all the angle iron and fences 18 months before the tragedy. I still have the odd shiver down the spine thinking about it. Although I have to say that the worst that happened that afternoon was a half cooked hamburger (lukewarm & bright pink in the middle - taken back) from the refreshment kiosk there. I also saw Trev score twice in the Cup in 88, once at Highfield Road when Ogrizovic kicked the ball against his bum and the ball rebounded into the net giving us a 1-0 win and ending Coventry's reign as Cup Holders! I also saw him score after 5 minutes or so against Port Vale in a replay after telling a friend (whose visit was his first in a number of years) how dreadful Senior was! So I saw 60% of Senior's goals for the Club - 3 out of 5. But he was a legend at Reading, Middlesbrough & Chelsea..........
He was deservedly a legend at Reading, banging them in left right and centre at Elm Park... which is why Bassett bought him. He then went on and sold anyone who would give Senior the service (hmmm, a joke in there somewhere?) he required. Lost form, lost confidence, lost his way - we saw the worst of him, a different player to the one I regularly saw at Reading (I used to take a disabled mate when Watford were away). We were relegated, Bassett sacked, Senior sold on... pretty pants time for all concerned. Watford fans generally think he was crap - well he was for us but that was not entirely his fault. Neil Mellor? Chicken and Mushroom or Balti?
Linked with Chris Porter...a decent striker in Scotland and with Derby for a whille. Trouble is the poor chap seems rather injury prone which is something we cannot afford to have in our squad. Also Paul Nixon is linked with a move from Dundee United. He's a LEFT BACK though..so that won't happen.
Mellor def not coming thats a huge sigh of relief from all hornets. Le Fondre and Zabroski the way forward.
What is this dangerous obsession with League 2 players? Zebroski has signed for Bristol Rovers ..... also in League 2 Adam Le Fondre ....... I'm not sure what to say, ok let's stick to the facts. He's a Johnny in the box tap in merchant, but there is said to be a fee of £500k required - that is why he is still in League 2. We will really struggle if we build a team around League 2 and minor Scottish clubs, Sean Dyche has plenty of money available but I think he is struggling to spend it????
We have chase lower league potential , coz no one else wants to come here , they are scared off by the recent upheavel!
i agree with you Norway, but someone at the club, Wilson hopefully, has to sell the club to potential players..
Even more worrying !!! Wilson is another newbie ! promising talented , I hope so! but as yet he is a new man at a new club and still finding his feet! When we landed Tiny ,was it not GT that persuaded him?
