Bony is not a big signing, everyone thinks he is a reserve

Wouldnt mind that. Young decent movement and a better back up than Lambert.

Rumour has it Ings will sign but finish the season on loan at Burnley. Chelsea are also interested.

We need a striker so why loan him back?

Ings is the back up striker we should have signed instead of Lambert.

Wouldn't mind him but we really need to strengthen the first team.

I stand by my opinion that Lambert was a good signing. We needed a different style of striker and Lambert provided it. It would have been harder to get any one younger or high profile because it was obvious they would not play.

Had Suarez Lambert would have been a solid addition to last seasons squad.

It would have been a massive gamble to get him in te summer. Unproven at perm level and Burnley would have wanted ipwatds of £10m for him after his goals got them promoted lastly year.

Only available a bit cheaper as he has 6 months left.

I I assume te loan back would be to lower the fee and sweeten the deal against any other competitorsfir his signature. Burnley then get cash and get him for the season opposed to losing him for free at te end instead.

True - but in all honesty, I wouldn't be looking at back up strikers at all. We need quality, not quantity.

If Ings does come in, we'll have Sturridge, Origi, Balotelli, Borini and Lambert. That's 5 strikers already. Who and how many will go ...?

id think in the summer we'd say to Lambert that playing time is going to be limited and if he wants to go he can, same with Borini.

Balotelli i reckon if someone came in with 10m we'd say thank you and he go leaving us with Sturridges and Origi and Inge if he were to come.

if we did get rid of all 3 I think we'd be looking for a versatile forward that an play there and also out wide if needed (if we revert to 433)

All in all, I rather we buy players with experience. That doesn't mean buying older players or players who have played in the PL. We need to buy players who understand what it's like to play for big clubs or at least play in pressured environments where you're expected to win week in week out.

I've maintained that it's no coincidence that the likes of Carroll, Downing, Henderson (to some extent), Lambert, Lallana, Adam have all struggled to play for us.

Now compare that to Sturridge, Coutinho, Can, Moreno, Markovic and even Manquillo - all are young but they have fit in pretty well because a) they're quality players and b) they have experience at big(ish) clubs, played in European Cup competitions, and most have been involved in winning titles or at least challenging.

Whilst I do like Danny Ings, if we continue to buy these sort of players, then you ultimately get what you pay for. Mid table.

  13. Ings is the flavour of the month / week then is he...

  14. He may well have been a different type of striker that offered an alternative option but the other ten players on the pitch are still attempting to play the same way regardless of his introduction.

I don't like all this loan straight back business. Danny Ings in todays market is worth £8million perhaps? We buy him for £3m and then move him on after having his wages paid for by another team while on loan....football is turning into an investors playground and players these days are simply assets. No wonder player loyalty is at an all time low!!
