This thread has generated lots of heat and light but without much substance or end product. A bit like your season so far eh boys!

I don't think it's in poor taste, the lad did something stupid that is quite possibly going to be over turned eventually if you actually look into what happened rather than tabloid reporting

And the fact he's done his time leave him alone

Can't agree with any part of that rich... i'm happy to accept anyone's opinion, but needless to say that I'm sat on the opposite side of the fence regarding this topic

I don't agree I don't agree with you KOPR..... His mate did her first and the jury believed it was with her consent and then decided that Evans did not have her consent. Either they are both guilty or both innocent!

    That's not quite accurate JWM.

To be convicted the burden of proof is that they have to be guilty beyond all reasonable doubt. That's a high bar.

To be guilty of rape (amongst a variety of other factors to prove) the jury has to be convinced that the accused could not reasonably have believed the victim consented. Or at least that's a broad overview of the position.

While I can't say I know all the details, it seems that the girl had apparently spent much of the night with the first guy and at some point decided to return to the hotel with him. So those are both clear factors that could easily sway a jury away from believing that he could not reasonably have believed she consented. He might have. Borderline, of course.

More to the point, why do you still write "Carrabug"? Is it supposed to be insulting? Is it supposed to mean something? It looks like you just can't spell.

His conviction is on appeal so he can't very well show remorse or guilt if he truly believes he is innocent. I agree that he shouldn't be playing football until the outcome of his appeal is known but I also think that he shouldn't be castigated by all and sundry while he is going through due process. He has been convicted by a jury and served time so he should be allowed to get on with his life.
