They could go into business with Steve Wraith, selling funeral paraphernalia.. Wraith Stone Carvers - your first stop for your loved one's mis-spelt headstone
You're absolutely right aside from the question of not attracting top managers. Much like players, those abroad would jump at most chances to get an "in" in the Premier League. That coupled with our large European profile I'm sure would make us attractive to someone like De Boer, with the intention of moving to a top 4-6 side in a couple of years. Obviously the top, top managers just move around the same 10-12 clubs in Europe, but the next tier is definitely available. Aye but look at their squad that year compared to ours haha. The turning point really was when he constructively forced Keegan out, that was it. And? He may want to move to Rangers ASAP but he still wants a premier league team to sell....
Well yeah, Blackpool did have the Holloway factor dragging them back as well. Your squad that went down wasn't exactly a bunch of part-timers mind.
He's got one and he cant get rid of it, i think it was you on you're board said maybe he is trying to leave a blank canvass for the summer, maybe?
De Boer isn't a top manager fella, inventing a category of Top, Top manager doesn't even make sense and doesn't make him a top manager. He's an up and coming developing manager who could go on to be a top manager. You've as much as said so yourself. So Pops was spot on about top managers, You'll never attract one with your chairman's ambition, you'd probably struggle to get one with ambition.
Wasn't me mate. Our value will half if we get relegated, if we stay up he could sell us for 100million less than value and still make more than if we are a Championship club. We had a team of 30 odd year olds who were only here for one of their last pay packets, Michael Owen being the worst of the lot. Thankfully we don't have that this time.
You're right tbf but my point being that champions league level players and managers abroad will come to England to a steady mid table side with the idea of moving to a massive club within a couple of years. Cabaye, for example. Frank De Boer is extremely highly rated and would be a coup if we could get him, done a fantastic job at Ajax under similar structure to NUFC.
I don't mind the look of your squad to be honest, plenty of match winners in it. I reckon you'd be a lot closer to being safe if you didn't have such luck with your keepers as well, but right now, you're a Coloccini injury away from being desperate at the back, more than desperate, it would be a catastrophe. Like I say, I think you'll be fine, but my opinion isn't relevant, it's points that count and if you replicate last season's form from herein out, you're in the shizzit.
According to the reports I've seen in the last year or so £250 million is what he'd be looking for if he sold us on. Obviously I'm not privy to info of how much we owe him but given our financial figures in the last few years, it's hard to imagine that when he sells us he won't have made his money back and more.
Oh, don't get me wrong, of the up and coming managers about he's a very shot and could be a very good manager for you. There's just no guarantees when young bosses take that step. Flip side, there's equal risk bringing in 'experienced' bosses as so many are dinosaurs are our out of touch with the modern game. Definitely the right way to go about it, going for up and coming. Top Top manager! Still tickling me that fella.
If you mean to use you as a stepping stone I suppose it`s a possibility. Somehow I just don`t see a manager who wants to move up, going to a club where the owner is determined not to. Ashley won`t spend so if he doesn`t do well with what he`s already got, he fails. If he does do well Ashley`s just as likely to sell the players. It`s not a good advert.
We have a few underrated players to be honest, Janmaat, Perez are absolutely fantastic and I REALLY like the look of Cabella even if Pardew didn't. Not sure about Coloccini to be honest, he's been arguably our worst defender this season. To be fair, we are down to 3 centre backs and one of them is a left back, so yeah any injury to any of our centre halves could be a disaster. Thankfully, there is a lot of real, real dross below us, I'd be surprised if they keep pace with us never mind claw back a 10 point gap. Krul coming back is a big boost, Alnick has cost us so much in the last month or so. As you say, there's risk with any manager really, the same old names of Curbishley, Pardew, Pulis etc seem to get recycled at every single job opening. Dinosaurs. Aye not my finest quote mate, was just trying to get my point across without backtracking
If newcastle are worth that we most be worth a fortune, we own the ground our stadium is on as well as the stadium, our facilities are among the best in the world, 40K crowds, now debt free, owned excess lands for development, lucrative long term partnerships already in place. But I think £250m for Newcastle is the valuation of a fantasist personally. If you are worth that like I said, we most be worth a fortune.
I've no idea of figures tbh, not my thing tbh. But when I look at a club like West Ham, in the capital, selling for £100 million it makes me wonder about your valuation. They had their own ground to sell which must have been a factor in Gold & Sullivan being tempted
That's exactly what I mean, the best way forward for a club of our level is to just accept being used as a stepping stone and fast turnover of players and managers. It's fine by me if it gets us up the table faster. I wouldn't like to guess mate but he paid around £150m for us I believe. Since then we have become a profitable business, which is incredibly rare, in fact almost unheard of for a football team in England. That's what boosts our value, aswell as being in the top 20 richest clubs worldwide. Looking at the things you've listed there, I'd have to questin what is going on at your club that's causing you to post such big losses year in year out???
As above, we were worth 150million a decade ago and we were haemorrhaging money then, we're profitable now. I reckon Big Mike would sell for 200.
