No I'm not suggesting that at all, I'm not a fan of all this buying 10 players every bloody season. Imo we should be using the academy and not bothering with a lot of the so called potential we are buying. I'd have rather us not have bought Lallana, Balotelli and Markovic last summer summer, we could have used that money better and signed Sanchez at all costs, take those players out and the finances are there, I'm saying use the money better, use the academy better and get the quality in other than quantity.
I agree with this. I said throughout the summer that I was alarmed at the number of new faces. I had hoped it would work out ok, but I believe that this was a major factor in our troubles in the first half of this season. I would have preferred 2 major signings in crucial areas rather the number of bodies we bought, but we just couldn't get them. Now I just feel that even if I didn't want them, they're our players and I want them to do well.
And that's my point really, did we do enough? Especially with Sanchez. Perhaps we did though I'm not in the know and perhaps it just wasn't going to happen. I agree on the point that I want who we have to do well though, I have nothing against Lallana or Markovic, I was just using them as an example. Balotelli is another conversation.
Nah- even Mario's one of us for the time being. Come on, he'll play better if he knows you love him. P.S. "Doing enough" to get Sanchez would have involved moving to London.
or slapping an extra 20k pw on his wages to help compensate. We were offering same wages as Arsenal apparently.
Anyway, fun though it is, this isn't really the right thread for this stuff. Perhaps we should take it into the pub- who's buying?
Speak of the devil: BACK TO THE FUTURE? One from a previous transfer window for you here. Yevhen Konoplyanka won't be joining Spurs or Liverpool after Dnipro said he won't be going anywhere. According to the Evening Standard, Inter and Moncao were also interested. Dnipro executive director Andriy Rusol said: “Nobody sells Konoplyanka. He remains in our club.”
