The Mayor of London has given his support and backing to the Club's bid for funds from the Regional Growth Fund (RGF), in respect of the Northumberland Development Project, the Clubs's new stadium and associated development scheme.

Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, lending his support to the bid said: "The Northumberland Development Project has the potential to inject considerable investment in stadium led regeneration in the heart of the local community. This level of investment will safeguard existing jobs, create considerably more local employment opportunities as well as enhance the public realm and vibrancy of the whole of Tottenham."

RGF monies would be used to deliver a package of major infrastructure improvements which are vital if the project is to act as a platform for wider regeneration and crucial if the whole project is to be made viable. These would include station upgrades, public community space, employment and training facilities, restored listed properties, Combined Cooling Heating Plant, site enabling and public realm works.

The Club's bid is for funding for public works, not for the stadium or any of the associated development, and, as such, this funding would facilitate the significant public sector improvements which would need to be delivered in the surrounding area and which would contribute to the general uplift of the borough.

Sounds like a possible Quid Pro Quo. i.e. don't make too much more noise about the OS, and I'll back your request.

Actually Chirpy he does have enough about him for you to worry about.

Let's hope he can help you get what you really want, so you'll stop playing games and leave everyone else to get on with their business.

Surely this is a much better option for Spurs and their fans than pursuing the OPLC over the OS?

We've done this one before. But again, Levy does not make rash, hot-headed decisions. If he is pursuing the OS situation, there will be a clear objective in his, and/or his lawyers mind.

Maybe, but my point is - with a proposed development at WHL getting the backing of the Mayor, with significant public funds and the majority of Spurs fans favouring staying in North London, wouldn't it be better to drop the OS debacle and get behind this bid?

That's it lads, now your talking!

Your home is North London, not East, no matter what the motives around Levy's actions.

You don't think us continuing to appeal the validity of the OS tennant selection has anything to do with us now applying for funding and receiving backing from the Mayor? Everyone knows we're not trying to get the decision overturned, we're trying to get further help with our own NPD development, dropping our OS challenge now whilst we don't have anything concrete to show for it would make the past year pointless.

I think the word 'leverage' is quite apt, but as I've mentioned before, threatening to take the Mayor, Newham Council and the OPLC to court, could backfire with regards to the NPD. It's a risky strategy. If the NPD gathers pace, I wouldn't be surprised to see Levy drop the OS claims.

It may have been almost pointless, but it was probably fairly expensive.

    It's NDP.

No one's playing games. We just want somebody who deserves the OS to get it. Like Orient.

You've made it abundantly clear that you have no understanding on this subject at all. It's not been pointless at all, if you can't see that by this stage you never will.

Exactly Schteffen, Quid Pro Quo. If Levy gets the backing he's seeking, then the OS situation may be allowed to die a quiet death. Unless, of course, Those idiots Gold & Sullivan insist on pursuing matters. I think it's probably all bluster, anyway.
