With Rodwell today saying he is happy to play anywhere and with looking at 5 3 2 or 3 5 2 systems would it be a good idea to have a ball playing CB who is comfortable coming forward. How is Rodwell in pace terms but cant be any slower than what we have now i guess and do you think this could be a good role for him?

That could well work, has played there before.

Not gonna be easy for him switching positions all the time though

Id use him there if injuries dictated it, but Coates and Réveillère would still maybe be infront of him.

I said this on an earlier thread. I think Rodders as one of 3 CBs would be a great move.

Any three from JOS Wes Santi Coates Rodders, would see us thro, with Catts Lars or Briddo as DM's, two wing backs and three strikers, in a 3 4 3 at home for me, and 5 4 1 away, we need to win our home games and snatch draws away, simples. :emoticon-0100-smile

I'm sure if Gus thought it was a good position for him he would already be in there. I know he played there a few times for City but I'd be reluctant to break up what we already have, they've been pretty tight at the back, but if injuries dictated then why not?

I just think Santi looked a bit weary/fatigued in recent matches, and Coates has shown very little to give me the confidence he's up to it. He may do better in a 3?

I just think Rodders is tailor-made for that type of role.

Santi is an enigma, but if we can afford to give him time and forgive the occasional lapse he could be a truly great CD. I may get slaughtered for this, and its just my opinion, but he reminds me of young Charlie Hurley.

I could see Rodwell at centre back, I think he lacks the guile, speed and combativeness for a box to box midfielder but has more than enough for a defender. He just seems more comfortable defensively.

Doesn't he have one of the highest percentages of won headers in the league? That would help.
