You may well be right, what happens in the background is a mystery to the likes of us. I just hope we did enough with this lad as he really does look top class.
We did the same as everyone else. the reports were of tours and so forth and so on. I eman I have no idea how long lfc were interested or how many times he was scouted or talked to via scouts etc. I mean do you want us to hire a private jet like real madrid did to fly him to the copa del rey game with atletico?
Yes absolutely, this is what I'm getting at. We should be more aggresive in our pursuit of players, if he's seen as the right man we should move heaven and earth.
So after flirting wildly, Odegaard has settled for Madrid. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jan/21/martin-odegaard-real-madrid. really can't see how this helps him, unless he doesn't believe his own hype? Far better to go to southampton or similar and get first team action, still plenty of time to play for a top top club.
for a child though seriously.... if we did this there'd be 50 lads moaning about the cost. Real don't even pay tax and rob the other clubs in their league of all tv money. so they can fly 100 kids on private jets if they wish. we simply can't.
As you rightly said, Ince was behind Stelring and Ibe in the pecking order, both of which were still trying to break into the first team, Ibe still is trying! Tom wanted first team football so he left and found a great platform at Blackpool. Both the Ince's have said he was offered decent wages and actually took less at Blackpool, Liverpool have also said he was offered a top wage for a lad of his experience and age too. How can you moan about a player wanting to play football AND criticise players for being money grabbers...? He did **** up at Blackpool though. He got carried away with his own hype and believed he was too good for them when in reality it was Blackpool that gave him the opportunity to perform. The loan was a shambles to flaunt himself in the PL for the final six months of his contract. He believed the big clubs would be fighting for his signature. He should have stuck it out with Blackpool and waited for the opportunity to arise rather than trying to force the situation. I don't think he's good enough anyway mind.
As for Odegaard, who gives a flying ****. Sure, he could come good but he might not too. He's the 15 year old 'in thing' at the minute and I couldn't give a **** about nto signing a player that flaunts himself to all and sundry at that sort of age. If he truly cared about his football and career he'd have stuck it out where he was a learn his trade before moving. He certainly wouldn't be moving to a club where he stands zero chance of playing in the next four to five years!
the difference is ince was older than both and well ahead so actually ince was shifted and silva out to make room in reserves for them to come up. His actions (i don't beleive a word out of daddy's mouth btw) tell the story. he's courted all and sundry and ended up shafting blackpool and all. Sure he got a good platform helped again by daddy. I just find the whole link when he was at our academy too disruptive seeing daddy wathcing and daddy talking to staff etc. Its funny how when he went elsewhere away from daddy's management he's not found much of a platform. I firmly beleive that once daddy got the sack at blackpool he was out for the move anyway he could get it. I'd have a lot more time for a silva than tom ince.
yes but i suppose my thing is... its all down to daddy. ince orchastrated the lads move.. he told him not to sign anything so the lad didn't get a game for us as a result, he managed him at blackpool, he orchastrated him leaving blackpool too. I think still him moving was good for us but we should have got more out of the guy. not that much but the main thing is i reckon with sterling and ibe both looking better ince never wanted him there.
I know that Rafa personally met with Raheem Sterling and gave him and his family a tour of Melwood etc. I think he did the same with Torres as well. Not sure if Rodgers does the same though.
Cannot blame the young lad for going to Real Madrid - it's a dream come true. Is it good for his development? Probably not - he should have gone to a team like Ajax or Barca - teams with great academies.
At the end of the day I don't know and none of us will but I just get the feeling that we don't do enough to convince our targets to sign for us. Some may think along the lines of that if they don't want to play for us **** them but I don't think we're in a position to do that and that we should be more aggresive if we identify a player as the right man for us.
the evidence we would have is variable. This summer origi was not met by rodgers initally as they were out in USA on tour. he was met by whomever showing him all the scouting history that he commented on. the reports on sky at the time http://www1.skysports.com/football/...l-visit-for-norwegian-starlet-martin-odegaard did show that the kid went to melwood and rodgers rolled out the "wonderful" crap. i would presume had he gone to melwodd he met gerrard, rodgers et al. and maybe did the stadium tour and such
Arsene Wenger met with Sanchez regularly throughout the World Cup, and had been in discussions with him for the prior year. Rodgers was too busy courting Lallana and Lovren.
Lol, your spot on there...... I imagine it a bit like this. Rodgers: So Mr Sanchez, this is Melwood it's quite nice. Sanchez: Yes it's lovely here. Rodgers: And so a little bit about me.......Breaks into song, I'm that star up in the sky I'm that mountain peak up high Hey, I made it I'm the worlds greatest And I'm that little bit of hope When my back's against the ropes I can feel it mmm I'm the world's greatest Sanchez: How do I get to London?
More singing........ I am a giant I am an eagle I am a lion Down in the jungle I am a marchin' band I am the people I am a helpin' hand And I am a hero Sanchez: You need help!
I saw this and thought it was rather amusing... Manchester United have not received a single official enquiry in January about Brazilian midfielder Anderson, 26, who has not played for the club since August and is officially for sale. (Daily Mail)
